In order to get someone's direct attention in a topic you have to do a little hack by mentioning their name in a quote with the following code. and directly put it in the source code.

Seriously though I spent almost 20 mins last weekend cleaning up sqoon messages.

I would personally like to suggest a way to delete a conversation by username, namely sqoon.

When I want people to know about a thread I PM them about it

What's wrong with the way NA is? Why do folks keep trying to turn it into some other social media thing?

This feature is already built, and will be active on the next update.

EDIT: and for people that hate this sort of thing, there's a way to turn it off

I hope this doesn't literally mean a bunch of @ signs in posts. I find that kind of stuff extremely distracting. I can't stand when TV shows run twitter feeds at the bottom.

When I come to NA I want to talk about games... 

It's actually relatively easy to filter out the "@" symbol and just use the "@" symbol to trigger the notification.


For example, you can type this into the editor...

"Hey @Paul"

and then when it's in the forum it's just...

"Hey Paul"

Or alternatively...

"Hey Paul"

Similar to how the emoticons you type the ":" key, then the name of the emoticon, followed by the ";" key.

I'm a big fan of this, I frequent a few other sites where this is used and it is great. It isn't used that often, but is effective when trying to get someone's attention in a thread.

I was coming here to suggest this very thing. I am STOKED that it is going to be a reality!!!!

Paul, I'm not sure why you're so upset about it. I miss tons of threads where I'm mentioned and I never knew they existed.

I think a PM might be a bad alert, but maybe some sort of notification box pops up?

You know, I'm actually trying to find the feature! I built it, but it's not in my code branch... kinda freaking out now since I put a lot of time into that.

Maybe tags wouldn't show up as a reply, but maybe at the bottom of each post there could be an area where tagged names would go.
