Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week's game is going to be Yoshi.  Here are the rules:

• 1 player only
• Play on Game Type A
• Start on Level 1
• Set speed to Low
• Play until Game Over
• Take your picture on the High Score screen
• In the event of a tie score, whoever has the higher egg count takes precedence
• Highest score wins
• Participation: 2,000
• GENRE: Puzzle

The contest ends Sunday, 6/11/17 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

On low speed it's not too bad. I'm glad we're not playing on high speed.

 

Hopefully the fact I practiced on high speed will help.... I'm too far back in the pack to miss participation.

all you have to do is post a participation score and you'll be eligable. 
if the winner declines a second winner will be decided later.
but what might the artwork be? it is me afterall. the question becomes do i reveal it or let it remain a surprise?

I can't say that I'm a fan of having to stack to the top of the playfield in order to get the most points, which puts you at imminent risk of a game over if you're not extremely careful.

That sounds both extremely cool and extremely scary at the same time!
Whoever wins it will be in for a nice drawing regardless.  
 

Jim's drawings might be worth big money someday after he becomes a world famous artist.

Hell, I am not good at this game at all!
Can't crack that 2k after a few attempts.
I can't let StupidJimTendo beat me this week though, so between work and bikes rides I will have to find time to play this one.

If you put seven creatures between bottom and top egg shells, you get 500 points. But stacking that many is risky because one more on the stack and it's game over, and they keep coming down. You can stack fewer, but it doesn't give nearly as many points.

 

BTW, I think that this play mechanic is bad. I keep having cheap deaths from maintaining such a tall stack with no time to move the stack as another creature appears over it.

If the winner respectfully abstains, will the artwork be sent to Bea by default?  
 

Then Bea will decline and it'll float in the air endlessly like a cat with buttered toast on its back.

Speaking from experience eh? Poor Mr. Pickles. 

Though it would be quite fitting that Yoshi would win the Yoshi contest, I'm rooting for you this week man. Go Krunch!
