, really wish I wasnt working right now.  I'd play the next 4.5 hours to beat that.  Good job though, you know how hard it was to get that far.  What phase did you die on?

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

Thanks! I was on my last life at about the 680k point. I was so nervous the rest of the game cause I knew it was my last shot at taking the lead again. I made it to a phase in the low 90s but I can't remember exactly which one.

I tried a few times to increase my score today, but cheap deaths killed my all runs and honestly it's starting to become Joust-ish in it's cheapness,so I'm putting the controller down. I don't remember the arcade version being as cheap as this version but it's been a while since I've played it. Good luck to everyone else.

I wasn't much in the mood for this during the week, but I played some Yesterday and did that score, so here it is.

Congrats to everyone!

You guys are insane. I just didn't get enough time in this week to practice and really get used to things. Best I could do was 140K but didn't take a picture (thinking I would put much more time in), but it's only a participation point either way. Good job everyone!

I know the rules said take a picture after you start another game, but you can pause the game right after you die and before "game over" appears. I think a picture that way would have been better since you could see the score and phase and determine if there was any potential point racking going on. It's too late now of course, but maybe an idea for next time.

An update from me: I have been having issues with my internet all day and I think my modem is on its last leg. Internet is running now, but extremely slow. Got a new modem coming in this week and will hopefully be here by Tuesday. I will get the new contest posted tonight and get the scores tallied up for this week, but it may take a little longer than normal, so bear with me lol. Glad to see a lot of people took part in the contest this week Nice job to everyone who played.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Wish the contests ended on a Monday or Friday so I could have time during the week when I am off to boost my score a bit more. Leaving a score to sit for two days just gets me so antsy because I can't better it due to work. Props to everyone playing this week, a great title for the contest week.

I meant to but after playing that hard for somewhere between 45 mins and an hour I was too spent to think clearly in those few seconds. Also I was thinking about the point racking system that people were talking about. What about the red fireball? My goal is to never let it leave the top section, if the red fireball leaves the top section I am taking way too long in that stage and more than likely am setting myself up to lose a life. But I know if you dont end the stage, eventually it makes it way around the stage, wouldnt it be a potential hazard for someone point racking or does it not go to the "safe" spot either?

Thanks man, your score and Space Jockey's score really motivated me. I had a ton of runs end in the 400-600k range but finally got a good system of the levels that repeated themselves, mainly focusing on getting rid of the crabs first no matter what, even if it meant missing out on a coin going by (pink crabs, along with green fire balls, and ice = death) and of course not missing any bonuses was a big help

you didnt miss any bonuses?!?!?!? Wow!!! I got about half of them. Any time I died there was almost always an iceberg involved and many times an angry pink crab. Im the same way about missing the coins. I got a lot of combos (almost every round I got the first two bad guys at the same time) but I never let more points put me in a dagerous spot. This game really rewards those who grind out the points instead of chasing after every possible coin.

Haha yeah I had finally mastered the best jump route to get everything in the given time limit.

I found that I also didn't use the POW block too often. It was definitely better, in my opinion at least, to be used for an extra platform and most of the time when I used it I would get too risky trying to pull off a big combo that would usually just end in death.

I know what you mean about getting the first two bad guys in the start of the level but the crabs were a lot harder to try and get together. I would just knock them out one at a time as they came down even if it meant me missing the red coin. I figured I would get another chance at it in the next set of levels haha I was moe focused on just trying to progress through the stages and the points would add up through the enemies and bonus stages

Quoted from the rules of every contest:

"The use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator."

Also, this contest ended at 10 PM last night, but the new contest, Bases Loaded, goes until 8/11 at 10 PM NA time.

What about "super easy mode" if a code exists? Competing is so bourgeois

Hope the next game is one that I own.
