I played this briefly as a kid and didn't like it.  I got my own copy and revisited it about six years ago and still didn't like it.  Now I've been playing the past few days and it's growing on me.  The controls aren't too bad once you get used to them.  It gets really tough once the bars start flipping over though.

Man do I love drunk posting on NA especially in the contest threads. So I havent really been in the game and lookin atthe leader boards I'm almost certainly Tier 3 for the tourney this year which suits me just fine cause I'm tired of losing to all these tier 1 people every damn time. This game is special to me because I found it early in my collecting and liked it and my little bro digs it. He even kinda half admitted it was his favorite NES game and I love it even so much that I dropped $80 on a -cad CIB a few years ago even though I was sellin off the rest of my filler just cause I had to have it. I mean how many Clu Clu boxes have you seen in the wild????? Me and little bro played this a bit the other night and we were toppin out at 35-50K so these 100K+ scores are impressive to me. Wish I wouldnt have neglected the BTDD contest but sometimes summer sweeps you up. I'll post some Krunch + Fitz scores once my phone gets some juice. Love your dedication all of you contest mates!!!! bird up

It's going to be participation points for me this week because I can't beat the fifth level.

It is my all time personal best on this game.
I will record and post video next weekend. Right now I can't stand seeing this game any longer.

That is true, yes.
Which means I am firing up my NES clone again now.

I am going insane with this thing.
One good run lost due to a stupid mistake. Now I have more booze in me and I am middle way my final run.

I don't know what the deal is, but level 5 just eats up my lives. I'm always flinging right into a pit or enemy.

At level 5 you are usually at max speed. After the bonus stage, the speed resets back.
That is why you are having a hard time there.

Yeah, one mistake can really throw you off.  I had a really good run where I had twelve extra lives in the fifth loop.  I lost seven of them in one stage, then four more in the next.

The sudden drop in speed after the bonus stage also throws off the hell out of me.
Lost a lot of lives on stage 42. Game is paused at the start of stage 43 right now so I can try to salvage this run.
Then I am done and the ball will in your park.

You can certainly beat this. I am not scoring too many points per stage.

I've moved on to Side Pocket. From playing this I can tell how simple Lunar Pool is by comparison. This is way more sophisticated and difficult. For example, it gives a bunch of different options for hitting the ball.

Everyone should probably try the tutorial mode first just to know what everything does.

Yeah. It is far more complex than Lunar Pool.
Lunar Pool was extremely simple. This has a much more complex physics, but I don't think the billards have spin there still. And weight.
But it is much more difficult to break than Lunar Pool.

Nothing like choking on a really great run. I had 7 lives going into the 4th level (I forgot if it was loop 2 or 3). I lost 4 lives on that level and 3 on the next for no good reason. That should have been a 100k run. Ah well. Final score updated!

Not tonight, although I was close.  I was 3 bars away from clearing the stage and beating your score.

Score updated.
