HI RESOLUTION LINK -> https://imgur.com/lEVquOt...

I bought this on ebay a while ago from a Japanese seller. I recently saw a post on reddit with a similar looking but not exact same pcb. Can anyone tell me for sure if this thing is legit?

Thanks for the reply. Did you notice the "N1ntendo" instead of "Nintendo", and the MX chip? People on reddit said a similar PCB was fake because of this...

I have several Super Famicom games that look like this. Plenty of games used different chips from various manufacturers, depending on who was supplying at the time. It is quite common to see the names of different chip makers on different copies of the same game.

I don't remember seeing the 1 in Nintendo before, perhaps some paint has chipped off or it was printed wrong? Either way, bootleg PCBs tend to be blank or contain random markings, they don't usually bother trying to make them look real.

Awesome. Thanks for the reassurance.

The "1" is definitely not a chipped etc... there is no dot over the "i"... If you get a chance next time you look at your pcbs, please check for this. It would be nice to see other pcbs with this writing.

I bought a copy off of Yahoo Auction JP last month and I have the same board and a similar label. Note how the label is bleeding a bit next to the JPN in the top right and next to the yellow in the SFC logo in the top left.

These two eBay listings have significantly different PCBs:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Magical-... qwAAOSwn-tZHisq:sc:USPSFirstClass!49341!US!-1
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SFC-MAGI... DsAAOSwWWxY...~vxX

If someone has pictures of other SFC PCB that look like the one in the OP I'd like to see them as I'm having the same problem. If this board is legit I would be very happy as Yahoo Auctions JP doesn't allow for returns.

I don't really know anything about SFC games but under the SFC logo it says "LICEVSED BY NINTENDO". Is that mispelling normal?

Edit: the two eBay posts listed in the post above mine have it spelled correctly.

The thin black vertical lines on the label around the black text and super famicom logo suggest this is an inkjet print. Compare it with a jeweler's loupe up close vs another game label and you should be able to tell the difference between it and an offset printed label.

Oh and I don't know of any Super Famicom/Famicom game that has rounded card edge fingers like that.

I'm inclined to say this is fake.

1) The label corners look pretty bad, like they might have been hand cut
2) The pins are rounded at the bottom, when they are usually squared off and/or have a little point jutting off the bottom.
3) The ROM usually has all or part of the product code on it, which is SHVC-AIAJ-JPN.

Well between that Reddit poster and myself, you're not the only one. You gotta hate scumbag sellers, they can really sour your collecting ambitions.

I wish you luck should you make another attempt at a real copy. The two I listed before both seem legit. I plan on going after another copy at somepoint myself.

wow... yeah the pins have a rounded edge, unlike a real square with tips.

Fake.  SFC games have the game ID on the chip just like the US games, this fake doesn't have it.  Also that label is 100% fake.

Wow, surprised to see such convincing Magical Pop'ns are floating around already. Gonna take apart my cart just to be sure, even though it wasn't bought recently.

I just opened mine as well - different board, and definitely labeled on the chip properly. Got mine out of Japan well before the price exploded. Sorry, this looks like a decently done fake.

Kootaroh's auction states:

We cannot clearly state that this is the original official one or "Reproduction",
since there is no way to check its genuineness.
We purchased this item from the wholesale dealer few years ago in Japan.
Even if this is not the original one, please be sure that we do not take any responsibility.
Please see the details of the picture before you buy it.

Now that's a setup up in effort. Is anything there outside of maybe the shell original? The sticker clearly isn't, but at first glance the silicon and chips look right without some code by code scrutiny against an original.

Can someone do a side by side on this?

Always check the corners of labels, that seems to be very hard to get right. The bottom right-hand corner, for example, looks very wrong.
