I'm working now on TMNT 3: Radical Rescue, as a break from the games I feel may just be too hard for me right now. While I recover my strength, I am really having a blast with this game. Aside from the somewhat over the top assault of enemy sneak-attacks (not a lot of time to respond so I do a lot of inching forward to avoid taking damage often), but beyond that, it's a really good game. I'm impressed at the quality of how everything goes together. It's probably going onto my top 10 GB list soon.

I've been taking random jabs at Dexterity. My best is I think Level 17 or so. It reminds me of Q*bert and how enemies are constantly undoing all my hard work...

Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle is done. I'm surprised I got it done in one night. Not a whole lot of puzzling until the last ten levels or so where the sequence of pipes/doors seems to matter a bit more, but still a fun time.

Next up, I have Mouse Trap Hotel. Looks like random dot org wants me to play all the rodent-based games in a row. First Rocky, then Bugs Bunny, now some generic mouse. I expect this one to be not good.

Tasmania Story finally beat. I really liked it, but kept screwing up on level 7 and 9. To get ending instead of loop seems to require picking up the animals, which means you squish the required amount of enemies each round. Not sure if you needed them all so I made sure to get it on every stage to be sure. Good little title. Would have loved it as a kid and the replayability is high. Was a nice surprise.

Wow that's a cool GB mod. Looks really bright and clear. Is that your preferred way of playing? Is the ghosting blur still bad?

It's a biverted light yellow backlit original gameboy. Still blur, but it's the one I grew up with so it looks normal to me. The crisper pockets throw me for a loop, so I tend to just play on this. Still (mostly) fits in my back pocket as well haha.

As for crisp and clear, it's pretty damn awesome. It did take me a lot of attempts to learn to photograph it. I'm slowly (very slowly) beating every gameboy game over on instagram, so you could see the early photos and how bad they were in comparison.

It's pretty amazing. This good player is probably going to use it in other facets of his life.

Well, I finally decided to look it up. Brain Drain has a longplay on YouTube which demonstrates that it contains 250 levels. With that revelation, I'm feeling ready to throw in the towel. I only barely hit 109 on last attempt. I don't think I will get far even with continues every 20 levels, or rather I think I lack the patience for it. If someone else wants to take a stab then they are more than welcome.

Brain drain looks like a slog. A kinda fun slog, but a slog. Congrats for making it that far! Still half a year to poke at it and get the finish if you get bored. I don't think anyone here will jump in to steal it 😉

Spy vs Spy half way done. This one is either super fun, or super frustrating. Depending on RNG. No real middle ground. Not as good as the C64 one. I loved that game.

Yikes 250 levels. That sounds like it will take forever. I don't blame you for quitting. That takes a lot of patience. I gave up on Quarth after putting hours into it. Screw that game

Yowza. I was going to say that I"m out, because I don't own Brain Drain and only play carts I've collected, but a friend literally picked up a copy for me today along with a few others. Still might keep it out of my randomizer lists until next year, though. Looks like a kind of puzzle I would have trouble with.

Mouse Trap Hotel is surprisingly already done. I knew nothing going in other than one gamefaqs article said that they didn't even think it had an ending.  It does. Go through the basement intro level to reach the elevator.  Then travel to any of 4 floors. You have to beat them all in whatever order you choose to get to the 5th floor. Pass that to go through a little maze area and reach safety in the penthouse.  It was easier than I expected thanks to very generous life and health drops. The elevators are a timed mini-game that gives you a ton of health and several 1-ups. I did game over a few times (no continues/passwords) from learning the mechanics, enemies, etc. and experimenting with what can be jumped on or hit with your tail, but once I knew what everything did it was no problem.  This was quite a bit like Bart Simpson's Escape From Camp Deadly, except not as fun. You even have the same death jingle!  You collect cookies to extend your life meter to seemingly infinity (like the candy in Simpsons, except in this you only lose 1 with death instead of all), there are parts where you have to inch forward for the constantly spawning enemies, there's awkward climbing, and bad looking sprites. This game hurt my eyes a bit with some of the diagonal lined backgrounds scrolling past. I appreciated that there were several enemy types with their own quirks, and variety in the sections (you have mouse hole rooms, long corridors, vents with laser sequences to pass through) to never make it boring. I also liked that the map was pretty detailed. Still the game wasn't all that fun. I was expecting worse, though.

Next up is Motocross Maniacs.  I think that one is supposed to be short, so I'll be tackling Jurassic Park after dirt biking a bit.

As a kid, this and Soccer Mania were on my list due to "OMG MOM DAD LOOK AT HOW AMAZING IT LOOKS!!". Looking back, I question my taste in gameboy games.

Spy vs Spy beat. Slow start, then fun, then last 2 levels the AI kinda breaks as it traps EVERYTHING and keeps blowing itself up. RNG is a real thing in this one, and can be frustrating. Overall I enjoyed it, though I woulda just put it aside after beating it as a kid I think.

Kingdom Crusade beat. It's a quick play, and the AI is weak, but holy crap it's an impressive idea they pulled off on Gameboy. Two player this thing would have blown me away as a kid.

I'm on two cliffhangers following a productive flight. Faceball I got through all but the last secret map, I kept running out of time/lives on it (figures I am terrible at maze puzzles). I will make another attempt soon though. TMNT3 is also at the final boss, I'm close but I need to perfect the boss rush so I don't lose my pizza before I get to the grand final.

Sometime this week I will finish those and move on to other games, probably back to itchy and scratchy golf, then back to bust-a-move 2dx.

I was in the same boat. Part of that may have been that there weren't all that many games to choose from, but never underestimate the power of the cartoon character design!

Started Motocross Maniacs last night and after playing for a while and finding out that the courses are the same on each difficulty, I got through 3C. There's a level select, so I could theoretically jump right to 8C, but what's the fun in that? Might as well do all courses on the hardest difficulty, right? This might take the rest of the week since you can't make mistakes and still pass, so I'll need a lot of practice. Hoping to beat 4 and 5 tonight.

Finished TMNT3 last night. Final boss wasn't easy, classic Konam style of grinding you until you could do everything perfectly. Was a very fun game though. Going back to itchy and scratchy next.

Follow-up, faceball 2000 is also done. Took me a while but I realized I was a little more adept at first person mazes than I thought I was. Level 75 was a tricky one for me, but it is finally complete, and with it, my last stage is done and the game is cleared. It remains one of my favorite game boy games, but am surprised now at how it hurts my finger to smash in the d-pad for movement on the left hand. Another one down, some hundred odd games to go.

It's hard, but not as hard as NES Battletoads. It takes a few playthroughs to be able to beat it, but you'll get farther every time.

I'm in the end phase of FF Legend, the game difficulty is finally catching up to how easy it is to grind the majority of the game, seems that more or less expected you to hit max stats by the end as I did. Golf continues to frustrate with +1 and +2 finishes, I just miss too many birdie putts and fall for bogey mistakes later on. Someday soon I will crack the US course though.
