Today was the second day of Gamefest here in Berlin. There was a nice little retro video game sale going on. One giant vendor and two smaller ones. Before I talk about everything here's the picture of all the stuff I got.
Luckily me and a fellow NA member were pretty much there as soon as it started. Thanks again for giving me the ride
. So I started to dig through stuff and sadly pretty much all the NES and SNES games were pretty darn expensive. I saw somebody picking up a lose copy of Banana Prince for 40€ which probably was the only NES game priced below retail. Even though I didn't get any SNES and NES games except for one it was nice seeing some of those rare gems and touching them tihi. They had the complete NES Mega Man set in PAL B all CIB + a CIB Mega Man 6, CIB Hagane and of course those uncommon classics such as FF2+3, Chrono Trigger and some other cool things.
Now for the pick-ups. The first thing I did was going through some of the lose N64 cartridges hoping to fill a gap or two in my collection. The first title I spotted that I was sure I'd get was Scooby-Doo which was priced at 8€. Not bad. I go through the rest of the games and BOOM. First strike of the day. Found a copy of San Francisco Rush 2049 marked at only 10€! This is one of those games that has the same four BIN's on eBay for half a year and no auctions ever. Lowest BIN on ebay.de at the moment is 39,99€ so I definitely picked that one up. Glad to find one of the rares I needed for a deal
. Then I got to the lose Game Boy games that didn't have price tags. I wanted to start to go through them and I literally pull the first game out and I see the game behind it is Stop That Mother***king Roach! So I get really nervous and ask how much it is. He says it's 12€. I ended up getting a deal for Scooby-Doo, Rush 2049 and Stop That Roach! for 25€. Happy as fuck to say the least. Then I go further and don't find much of interest when some guy about my age goes in front of me because I was taking it so slow. So we get to a bin of Master System games and he is still in front of me and gets first dibs. I see him pulling out game after game and putting every single one back. When he got to the end I couldn't believe what he picked out: A boxed copy of Power Strike 2. I was just thinking: "Oh please put that back but sadly he didn't. When the vendor was moving a few metres away I asked that guy how much the Power Strike 2 was and he just grinned and showed me the price tag: 12€. Holy hell what a find. We just kinda chuckled a little together knowing the other one knew how much that game's worth (for those that don't know it's about 100€
). I just went on and found some more N64 games. Got Tarzan and PGA European Golf Tour for 8€ each. Pretty much retail for Tarzan but PGA is definitely a more uncommon title.
I went back to go through some of the Mega Drive games I kinda just glanced over. Found a CIB Sparkster with no price tag. Asked how much and it was 10€. I wasn't exactly sure on the Mega Drive price but knew the SNES version was fairly expensive so I just took a chance on this one. When I came back home and looked it up I found out it was worth 30€. Awwww yeeah
.
After that I was pretty much done with the big vendor so I took a look at one of the smaller booths. The thing that immediately caught my eye were some uncommon boxed Game Gear games. I started chatting with the seller and it turns out he was collecting Game Gear games quite hardcore and he said he was only missing 10 games from a CIB PAL set. I was in shock to say the least. PAL Game Gear CIB is ridiculous to collect. About 50 of those games are ridiculously rare meaning they show up once or twice a year or even less. He actually showed me a picture of his collection on his phone. Just beautiful stuff. I think he was a bit surprised that I actually knew stuff about Game Gear collecting because nobody really does
. I ended up buying two sealed Jaguar games and a CIB Wrestlemania Steel Cage for the NES from him for 35€. I wasn't really sure if that was a good enough deal or not but it turns out that Steel Cage is actually somewhat uncommon CIB so it was alright and the Jaguar games were literally in perfect sealed condition.
Onto the other small vendor. He had a small tub with some Saturn games. Nothing really that caught my eye except for a Darius Gaiden which seemed to be the only cool game in there. I had no idea how much it was worth so when the seller said it was 45€ I just passed. It would've been a decent deal but whatever. We kept talking a little about the Saturn and I mentioned I was just starting with my Saturn and don't have much of a collection that. He just put those three games you see in the picture together for me and said 10€ for the three together. Of course I knew the titles weren't anything special but they were complete and in very nice shape so I just bought'em to fill in some Saturn titles
.
After all that I went through the big vendors stuff again to make sure I didn't miss anything. When I got to the Game Boy games I found out I actually missed a lose copy of Fish Dude. No price tag, I asked how much it as: 5€. Whooooo that steal. Very pleased with all the stuff I got and the vendors were really nice. The big vendor was a really fun guy to talk to even though he said some common phrases like: "You don't find this game in this condition anymore and blabla". I guess every big seller has to advertise his stuff as best as possible but he was just nice all around. Definitely had a good time
