Hard to say if it's worth it or not. It's already rapidly turning into a ghost town here, is a new site going to change things? Maybe? Porting over old posts? Probably not really worth it, I mean does anyone really go through all that stuff anymore?

If there was a new site I'd probably sign up but I cant say I'd be any more active than I am now. I hardly browse these days. It's been weeks since I've been active on discord either. I guess I'm just not that into tapes these days. Maybe a lot of people are reaching that point now? Or maybe they're shifting to other platforms for it?

If the death of NA is inevitable, stand up a new site. Worse case scenario no one joins and it dies as well. At least the people who cared enough to try can take solace in an admirable attempt. Nothing good will come of sitting around waiting for the end.

The fact that the new owners haven't spoken up in this thread is more than enough said.

I'd love to see a redirect setup from NintendoAge.com/forums to the new forum but I doubt that would happen.

I'm pretty confident that the focus would be on collecting and playing games in general, not on Nintendo specifically. NA itself isn't even about Nintendo specifically these days.
 

Should make a thread and have everyone put in a name suggestion, take a poll, get the top 10, go from there or something.

I'm 100% in for the change. I think it'd be cool if we could leave the discussion achieved.

More like a lack of development here. Last year Gloves, before he was a mod, recommended the site get a SSL cert at least, for security. Nothing happened. When the site came under new ownership, the new owner (Jeff of GC) explicitly stated nothing on this site will change except non-intrusive banner ads will be added. 

With a new owner, hope and request for some modicum of modernization were both renewed. But it turns out "nothing will change" cuts both ways, and all such questions have not been answered in any public way at all. It sounds like no response has been forthcoming in private, either.

Define "everything". What is this everything we stand to lose? Our lacking updates? Our ancient software? Our 16 feedback? There is no "everything" here to miss that wouldn't be done better/bigger/newer on a new platform.

Tried it. BA and I tried to persue talks with Jeff but they didnt go anywhere. 

I wonder if the NA effect would push the prices of potential domain names through the roof as well?

NA has built up a "brand name" over the last umpteen years. It'd be stupid not to keep the name and all the history here.

I'm all for updating the site, but you gotta do it in some way that preserves the user base, transactions, and the history. That's the whole point. I wanna find a thread from 2008? It's still there. Pictures from the OG members? Still there. See who's a dick at transactions? Need that too. Every time Dain updated, he was able to bring everything from the old versions. It took some doing, but he didn't just flat delete everything and start over. Surely with as many tech nerds as there are here, we could figure out how to migrate to a new site and keep all the history, if not the functionality.

My 0.02.

Other than that, updating is usually a good thing. Unless your iOS and upgrading to #13 stops your freaking watch from being able to display notifications.
