Hey guys i thought it would be a cool idea if there was a sticky in the finder keepers section that was for like weekly finds, of stuff people find in the wild. (not online, ebay etc.) "but locally" I know a lot of us here always do a little hunting on the weekends etc, and im always curious to see what everyone brings in. So maybe if everyone thinks this might be a good idea, maybe Dain could make a sticky of this thread. Input?

Anyways I hit my old local flea market grounds today and did OK. Wasnt the best scores ever, but at least i didnt come home empty handed lol. Heres what i managed to pick up this saturday>>

Vintage 1980 Metal Pacman lunchbox with thermos and paperwork $10.00
SNES System with 3 controllers, hookups, and 2 games. Illusion of Gaia and contra 3 for $15.00
Super Mario 2 with nintendo sleeve $5.00
Super Mario 3 with nintendo sleeve $5.00
TMNT 3 with Manual + nintendo sleeve $5.00
Rainbow Islands for Nintendo DS Sealed $15.00
Last Battle Genesis cib $3.00
Big Box of Atari Stuff, paddles controllers 3 Systems $15.00

Not to bad, anyone else score anything else in the wild this week??

Your flea markets are way more lucrative down there. Here in PA I think the highest concentration of resellers is right in my backyard - none of the fleas ever have any good deals, ever...ever. If there is even any gaming stuff, it's in the hands of the resellers at a permanent stand, and they sell for "book value" which is generally 150-200% of ebay store values.

All I got today for trolling the yard sales was a genesis, with 1 controller, sonic 1 & 2 and Tecmo Super Bowl III for $15. And I stopped by the local pawn because I was disappointed and got a red-label 2600 Donkey Kong jr. for $0.49. 2 hours for that :/

If that Rainbow Islands is the non -1 version, it may increase in value...there was a glitch that wouldn't let you pass one of the later levels, and Codemasters fixed it for anyone who sent the game back to them. -1 version can be completed, non -1 can NOT be completed Just thought I'd throw that out there...

But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

I had a space set up selling stuff at the flea market Saturday.  I saw someone selling a playchoice 10, working and looking good, for $175.00.  By time I made $175.00 at my stand the playchoice 10 was gone.

wrldstrman, I never 'see' it either, I always gotta ask. Most people are content to keep it until whenever. My secret isn't to go early, go late like 9-10am on when people are disappointed with the $10 they made that morning since 7am. Then you mention video games, they realize they have it all in a box in the closet and bring it out for you. Only once have I ever actually seen any NES carts sitting out in the open at a yard sale, and it was a bunch of sports commons. I see PS games from time to time, Genesis frequently, but no Nintendo. But I've come home with boxes of it after having just asked. It's not insane cheap like .25 per cart since, well they valued it enough to keep it initially. But I can usually swing $1-$2 per cart and of course that's if it has good stuff that I want.

i always try and get there early. im normally hitting the grounds at about 7:00 in the morning. That way you get first dibs at anything someone puts out. Then i end up walking it over and over again until it looks like everyone who was coming was already there and set up. Then i hop in my car and cruise down to the 2 other flea markets lol. Ends up being a lot of driving sometimes, but worth it when i find something sweet. Ive always had pretty good luck, and out of the 700+ nes games i own ive gotten about 450 of them from these flea markets. So i always try to think positive hoping for that chubby cherub box to be sitting in a box of junk for $1.00 hehe

thats really awesome you saw a playchoice, ive NEVER seen one of those in person. Neat!

first off i guess i should say hello, since i'm new here. i've only been collecting for a little while "a little over 150 nes", but i'm hooked. so anyway, went to the flea market over the weekend and found:

mega man 2 (loose)
mario bros. (loose)
tetris 2 (loose)
break thru (loose)
urban champion ( w/ box, manual, and sleeve, box is pretty crappy though)
kirby's adventure (w/ box, manual, sleeve in awesome shape)

not too bad.

Hey man, welcome to these forums. Enjoy your stay if you're into NES!

And keep that Urban Champion box, even if it is trashed. It's a very hard game to find complete. Mainly the box is difficult to find, and one in great condition is very difficult to find, as they usually seem to be trashed for some reason.

I got my Urban Champion CIB for $5 as well... Many people are unaware of how rare the box is I guess, mind you it wouldn't fetch super high dollar amounts like some other rare boxes...

My Urban Champion is CIB, but it's -CAN and in shit condition Ah well, a -CAN box for it would probably be even tougher to find, since we had 1/10th the run as you -USA folk

I found a local toy store that had a few old Nintendo machines out the back. Picked up this lot:

Famicom and Disk system games
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/samhead_64/FamicomDisk...

Famicom and Disk system - not sure if it works yet
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/samhead_64/FamicomDS.jpg

and an 'untitles' game made by Hong Kong Game Cartridge CO.LTD
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h37/samhead_64/HongKongGam...
is this just a pirate cart or does anyone know if this company is legit? I haven't seen that many pirate carts before, but I guess it is looking at the shape of the cartridge.

All of that as well as a Hong Kong Version NES and a rather neat Quickshot Wireless controller..don't see too many of these in Aus!
