Well, you can use a 74ls393 and a 74ls139 in order to make a switchless cart... or only 74ls139 with two switches and 2mb rom, or only 4 switches and the 4mb rom...

Or a pic with a proper code in it.

Personally I wrote my own pic code and I can store the last game in the eeprom so you don't need to remember where you ended your play.

Obviously I won't share it, but you can read this topic"

http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopi...

and made something similar...

Just use the 2mb rom... you can put two roms in one tsop.

Apply the sublines patch before burn your memory.

How would you solder this using a counter and multi line chip? From the looks of it on that nes dev site they are having issues. I'd like to use just 2 chips. What would be different? How would everything be connect? I know you can use the memory banks but have never done so before.

do you know how to do it without using that chip? using 74ls393 and a 74ls139 to make it switch less? selecting the memory banks? I'm just not sure how to wire it. that link up on top has the schematics on how to do it with 2 chips, which is easy to understand. but i've never had to select memory banks before.

Just curious: did you ever actually do the map + box?

A made a "good enough" box design for it, nothing particularly inspired or fancy. I had a spare hour and whatever I had done by the end of that was what the dude got.

Figured I'd update this and let people who care know that Uncle Tusk is selling boxes/manuals now for Zelda: Ancient Stone Tablets here:

http://www.uncletusk.com/node/284...

He's also doing a CIB release of Zelda BS here:

http://www.uncletusk.com/node/298...

I've gotten both things from him in mail just today and I'm quite pleased. Recommended if you've been looking for these things for a bit.

Hey guys,
I am just days away from getting my repo boards in....actually adapter boards.   I've just tested it for the Zelda AST 2mB and 4 mB versions (see videos in the thread.  http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/...

It uses the reset button to cycle through the games.  Got questions, just ask.

Zelda AST is 4 parts right ? So with 27c322 you will need 2 cartridges for the complete game, right ? 2x27c322 per cart.

What're you planning on charging for them, Mark?

No, my adapter can hold all 4 roms.  So 1 cartridge.  You have to have them all on 1 cart, otherwise the save ram wouldn't transfer from 1 cart to the other.  The trade off, however, is that you can't use the sockets.  They all have to be hard soldered on the adapter.  I'll be posting pic's of this soon.  Boards are scheduled to arrive in a handful of days now.

I'm still undecided on what to charge. My initial thoughts are. $10 for a bare board and $20 assembled.  I'm still mulling this over....
For the record, sockets/header-sockets are not necessary.  If you know that the game you want is a good program, then you can just solder it in.  I designed this so that all it would take for a minimum amount of effort is to solder1 or 2 jumpers sets, install rom(s) and mount to host cartridge.  That's about it.  If you want the multigame setup, then it's just a matter of burning your rom(s) properly (I use WinHex) and bridging some solder jumpers.  And if you really want to dive in, with just a little more effort, you can configure the SRAM on certain host carts to hold the save data for each of the 4 possible game roms...  I'll post a video of this too.... An example could be 4 different Super Mario type games (hacks) all having their own save states or a Donkey Kong country Quad -- DKC1,2,3 & competition all in 1 cart each retaining their own save progress.
believe it or not, but I'll be videoing a cart with my adapter that has Earth Bound, SoM2, bahmut lagoon, and Terranigma...each with their own saves.
anyways..... Will just be a few more days before the boards arrive.

thanks

What kind of assembly is required for the bare board to become functional ?
