I just had an insanely lucky run with the bonus points.  Rolled 50,000 three times, along with 60k, 70k, and 100k.  I also managed to get through the entire game without destroying any normal enemies.  I just dodged everything or if nothing else, ran right through them!  The only kills were robot masters/end bosses.

I died a lot playing this way, but had just enough lives to pull off the win.  Had to play from the evil twin boss to the end on my last life.  Loads of fun!

Achievement unlocked: Pacifist.

it was cheap and there was a bunch of good shit in it like Super metroid, mario all stars, mario kart, DK2, snes console w hookups controllers, shitty sports games and Super Turrican 2
Ill just say I paid less for the whole lot than what Turrican 2 goes for by itself

my run however isnt going as well...

gonna shoot a youtube vid, play a run of MM, then play the new zelda game...i never stop...

So full discretion, I may be a wee bit tipsy right now.

Early tonight I decide to take another stab at this challenge. I was playing like shit so I decided to just say fuck it and drink some whiskey with my roommates. After getting a few drinks in me I started over. The alcohol had a nice calming effect on me and I was doing better than ever. I made it all the way to the final boss rush with 3 lives, and I was essentially guaranteed a victory. Right as I was about to kick gutsman's ass my roommate in his infinite wisdom decided he needed to throw a two liter of coke to our friend across the room. He missed. It hit my nes. The game reset. He did not say another word the rest of the night out of fear of what I might do to him.

Sadly, my break starts tomorrow and I won't have any time for the rest of the weekend to take a shot at the game, so my hops of competing were shattered with that two liter. Needless to say I was very upset when it happened and I proceeded to finish my bottle of Crown, so thats that. Best of luck to the rest of you. I am gonna go pass out and plot to kill my roommate.

Died on Ice Man stage, 348300. Those platforms suck but I was able to get past them just barely before I got hit mid jump into a bottomless pit.

ok...i got just slightly farther this time than last (died on the clone)

but

i havent been this far in the game since i was a kid, so i said fuck it, and just played to win after this point
so, i happily beat the game (with a continue as mentioned) and can now at least rest easy tonight

ill give another go at it tomorrow...not sure how many more i have in me, but i am really enjoying this one (i mean come on...who wouldnt...its freakin mega man)

also, side note: i got a ton of shit done this evening including making a new retro gaming pickup for youtube (still editing) and i won Action 52 in ebay auction...all in all, i had a great night

Finally got through this time.  I had a few other good runs, but seemed to almost always get killed by Guts or Wily.

And, on this final run, I beat Guts Man in the boss rush, but he had already thrown the boulder, and killed me just afterwards.  So, both of us die almost simultaneously, and I have to redo the boss rush!  That's 40,000 pts !

Fun competition this week!  The low-scoring aspect is really interesting, but I can't help feeling that I'm playing wrong by not taking out every enemy!

Damn, and here I thought I would have the low score I played on real hardware though

I got fairly lucky with the scores (Bomb, Cut, and Elec were 50,000) but Gutsman at 90,000 killed me. I could have gone under 900,000 otherwise.

Lol. I'm sure there was an eye roll in there too.
