pics and video updated in my score post (video is for proof as I didn't have time to put my name in front of the tv for the final picture)

I watched the video this morning and that has to be one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen. They need to change the name of the game to Dra600n Gaiden. Thanks for sharing it!

Haha! Thanks

gutsman shared one of his grind spots in 6-3, so I did a quick test run this morning, though it's very easy to mess up and lose a significant portion of life. I know of one other in 6-3, but it's also a dangerous spot, though seems to be somewhat easier with the pattern.

The grind spot in 6-3 I told him about is in the section where you encounter that white dude who throws the wheel disc thing. You kill him and any residual enemies that may be around. In that area,if you backtrack a little in that area, two hippies will come after you,one from above and the other from the right. When they spawn, you want to go left a little so the top hippie doesn't hit you and then come back to the right a little, crouch, and strike. You can stand up and strike, but it seems like when you do,often you'll miss one of the hippies. Definitely not the safest grind spot, but how can you not like 1,000 points a pop?

Anyone know of a good photo upoading app? I've had it with the photobucket app. Most unreliable app ever. What a piece of crap.

I just couldn't get a good run in.  It's amazing how many tricky parts there are to mess up a good run!

I improved my score a little and managed to pass 900,000.  I'd really like to get to 1 million before the contest ends, but I keep making little stupid mistakes here and there that end up costing me a life.

I wouldn't put it that way.  I just practice a lot, and enjoy pushing myself to top my own scores and/or meet certain goals.  As skinnygrinny said, not everything cooperates.  RC Pro Am and Dr. Mario were not too kind to me, and I'm sure there will be others.

Uh oh... I still don't know if my brain has recovered enough from that one to make more multi-hour-long runs on it.

Move over dra600n,you've got company!

1,041,500

I don't think I'm going to try to improve upon this. It was tough enough just to get this much. I collected all the 1ups in this run and also no deathed the game until 6-2,when one of those stupid jet pack ninjas knocked me into a pit. The remaining lives I spent grinding on that sweet, sweet spot. I wasn't sure at first if I'd be able to hit the million, but the closer I got to it with lives to spare, all I had to do was not get knocked into the pit by the stupid bat and the million was mine! I would've had a slightly higher score, but I screwed up by mistiming a strike and the bird did its' usual annoying thing. Died with about 40 second left. Ah whatever. That grind spot is easily the best one in the game.

Oh and I replaced the overhead lights! Now my room doesn't look like a dungeon! Before roll: After roll: Final score:

Thanks! I took the safe (wuss) way to the million as I didn't get to the final bosses and repeat act 6 at all. I'm sure if I had gone through act 6 a few times I could have given dra600n a run for his money, but in doing so I was risking the million. A few other very promising runs I took that risk and failed. Not this time.

The good thing is that now it's done, so you're going to be less psychologically affected by the million mark from now on. Go for it man!

Lol that one is a bit of an endurance run.

I approach each game very similarly. I hate to admit that I haven't played many of the titles before. I just recently started amassing a large collection. I only ever owned 25-30 games before. Anyway like you said I practice a lot (plenty of free time as I am my only child and I just keep pushing.

CONGRATULATIONS GUTS! 1 million nicely done.

This is my second run. I'm just going to leave it at participation. If I don't walk away now, the competitor in me will come out and try to get top 10

Hahaa! Hell ya! I always wished he was a playable character. For me when he appeared in III I was like " oh shit , cool ass entrance music" and didn't you just kinda know he was some type of friend more than foe? Maybe it was just me.

Mega man II is a great game but I grew up with and enjoy III more. I always thought proto man was cooler than his lil brother.

I'm surprised it took them to MM 9 to play Protoman a playable character. Better late than never.

Surprised only 22 people have submitted a score so far,it's not like we're playing black box baseball. I'm hoping there will be a plethora of scores submitted tomorrow.

It's WrestleMania Sunday and time for the big payoff, although it seems kind of anticlimactic without the Santa newsletter to hype it up.

Aside from  your terrible handwriting (hey, like mine is any better!), great job!

This game is mentally taxing. In fact, I'd say point pressing is a lot more difficult than a low score, furthest progression contest just because of the stress and anxiety that comes with this style of play. The margin of error with those birds is pretty small, that's for sure.

Glad to see that you reached your goal of hitting 1 million
