If MRN and Braveheart collected protos, then yeah, it would be crazy. I think people might actually start paying more attention...it's funny, if you turned one of the games into a box/manual/game with limited release, they may be all over it, but one of a kind, no way...

All I want is for the info that anyone has about any of these protos to speak up and share. I think it is all this info that has rekindled my passion for the NES. That takes something as I lost my whole collection and am just restarting anew.

Ive been playing this game for the past week (the BRC translation) it got me thinking about this thread. Nothing ever came of it so I thought I would revive it in hopes of some new information or new (different) prototype discoveries.

If this game was found it would be a magical day and I would frolic in the bushes with deer and squirrels, living among them and learning their customs.
But that's probably not going to happen.

Glad to see there is some discussion about this game. It was one I knew I had to have when I realized there was a translated repro of it available (* Thanks Joe).

In saying that, I've been trying to find some decent quality artwork of the game (all I'm finding are small crappy pics).

I have always wondered about Crash N' the Boys Ice Challenge... Every time I beat Crash N' the Boys Street Challenge, there was always that dreamy beat/tune with the "coming soon!" for CNTB Ice Challenge...

Thought I'd show some comparison shots of the translations of this game, as it stands there are 2 public translations on RHDN, and a third which I developed by fixing one and properly finishing it.

1. TransBRC did a release which Americanized all the text rather than staying true to the Nekketsu name
2. Disconnected stayed true to the Nekketsu naming conventions (kind of), but made errors in their hack which cause it to not even work in current emulators (accurate emulation must have broken it)
3. My fixed version of Disconnected's hack which fixes their crashes, corrects various typos, corrects the use of 'Nekketu' instead of 'Nekketsu', corrects cutscene graphics, and translates a cutscene near the end of the game which DIsconnected failed to translate

(The Disconnected translation freezes after scoring a goal due to an overflow, it also crashes after the first period)

Have you released a patch for your fixed version? This is by far one of my favourite Famicom games, it would be great to play your version.

I remember posting a thread about this a while back, that the patches were not perfect, hoping for something better, or if someone had answers, I will have to dig it up.

If it were to be available with a clear cart shell from RetroZone and a custom label true to what the final product may have looked like I would be lining up for one.

fyi theres one more untranslated Nekketsu title on famicom, I started looking at it, will translate as time provides

found an overlooked typo: the NHS logo center ice still says "NEKKETU"

also when a player gets put in the penalty box they respond "heheheh". i don't that that's wrong but it seems like a strange response.

honestly, too much hassle to fix the logo on the ice, so I just kept it. 

that other translation for the athletic meet game is done, I just need to finish the title screen still
