Managed this run early in the week and didn't have the willpower to try again for a lower score. Beating the game without continues once was elating enough.

I didn't had much free time to invest in a true minimalistic run, but the positive side of this score is it was done on 1-life. Take that you Wily psycho!

Score: 120,700.

I knew I shouldn't have waited last minute to get some play in. As you can see from the screen shot, I did not get very far at all. For some reason, my game kept glitching out just past this screen where you have to jump on the moving platforms. They would just vanish from beneath me, or never show up at all.I was having trouble getting the game to work at all in my machine, so I think that has something to do with it. Don't have time to clean it tonight At least I tried.

It took me a while to get this score and while my goal was a sub 900k score,(which I blew four chances at) I'll take this. I'll get that sub 900k though.

Thanks man! I put enough practice in. After I saw Tom's score,I knew I could beat it. (My best score at the time was 920k) I played a crapload last night and tied Tom's score then finally beat it. I was thinking you'd post something like 880k but I got lucky.

Great score Guts and awesome scores all around this week. I wanted to do one more run tonight but I was too tired after work, so no late updates from me. Congrats to all who have beat this great game this week.

Guts Man winning Mega Man week...it just seems right .

Hehe

Honestly, I don't think I would have been able to pull a no hit on enemies run like you and Tom did during the week. It leaves not much space for errors during the boss battles, and I was not fine tuned on this title at the beginning of the week. This said, I'm still quite happy that I've been able to do a relatively lo score on a one life attempt.

I think it is safe to call a congrats for your win even if there's 25 minutes left to the contest
Well deserved!!!

Thanks! I was targeting this week to get my first win and it looks like it's going to pay off. When I can get a good setup I will post a video on youtube of one of my boss kill only runs so everyone can see what I did and try to take me down the next time we play Mega Man.

Thank you! Lots and lots of practice went into this. There was a little bit of an adjustment I had to do for the competition as I had been playing Guts,Elec,Ice,and then whoever so I could get the Ice Slasher and Magnet Beam to bypass everything as soon as possible, but playing the way we did is fine too, even though those fleas at the beginning of Bombman's stage can be a real pain. Same goes for the octopus batteries.

Nice going, Guts!

Glad to see that your hard work paid off.  Did you find it tough going through the game without shooting anything?

Guts-Elec-Ice sounds like a tough start.  Would be interesting to see you do a run with that order.  I always found Elec to be a pain without using the Cutman blade.

The hardest stage for me was wily stage 2 at the beginning with the bladers and at the end with all the octopus batteries that you just can't avoid. I can no death the game without killing anything but bosses up until this stage. I'd usually lose 2 lives at this stage since you can't avoid a lot of the enemies. I can get through all the bladers without shooting them or taking damage, but it's very difficult and I've only done it maybe 2-3 times. I used to have a hard time with Elecman too,but I found a pattern with him that makes him a cinch to beat with just the arm cannon. Same goes for Fireman too. I'll try to post a video of some gameplay this weekend.

Sorry for the delay in the results post. I had a very late night at work followed by internet problems, but here are the results. Good luck to everyone in mattyjmania's giveaway

Also, whenever people died in the same stage, the person who got the furthest in the stage had their score take precedence.  For example, Krunch made it a little bit further in Wily Stage 1 than CLAYB1RD, so that's why his score is higher in the standings.

Thanks Doug and everyone else! I really appreciate it. I have always been really good at this game, but I put in a lot of practice hours to get even better and it definitely paid off for me. And good luck to everyone for the raffle. It looks like someone is going to be getting an awesome product!
