All this talk about bearcat and Tom coming back, yet not a word about the most dominating player in contest history...

Is Tom the best NES player on the planet?  Yes.  But he was selective with his contest entries.  Only one player could dominate any game, any where, any time

If I still had the time to give a 100% effort each week I'd probably at least consider it, but I just don't have the free time that I used to. I did ask her if she wanted to play and I even offered to help coach her, so she might make an appearance sometime in the future.

It will be an honour to have her play along side us.
With Miss Clawful gone from NA, we only got ookii_risu and me to represent the ladies here, and I am barely qualify as lady-like.
She would surely help a lot to even the ratio a bit more.

Okii_risu is a chick?? Wow, you learn something new every day.

I wish Miss Clawful had at least left her Youtube channel up. She posted videos in the contests that I wouldn't mind seeing now.

If there's interest I'd be happy to livestream my runs on Twitch. I've been meaning to do that more often but it's kinda sad sitting there talking to myself. @_@

I think that Tom is good enough to dominate any game that he feels like.

Are you referring to guillavoie?

I gotta put some effort out there at least! It's a fun game but not one I'm so familiar with that I can get through it easily. I remember having a bit of trouble getting through the game the last time we played it but if it was a 1-life contest then that would explain why!

I seriously considered making a comeback this year, but I just haven't had nearly the free time since I retired after the 2015 season. These new players are good enough that they don't need any motivation from me to put up awesome scores, although it is really cool to see the mix of contest veterans and first time players this season!
Unretire! You can do it. And have Ms. Bear kitty play too!

If I still had the time to give a 100% effort each week I'd probably at least consider it, but I just don't have the free time that I used to. I did ask her if she wanted to play and I even offered to help coach her, so she might make an appearance sometime in the future.

To be fair, I am playing now far from 100% effort but I'm still at it, so that's no excuse!

There are a few weeks this year where I do plan on showing off what I can really do.

Better not be the week I think it is.  That's my only shot at a gold

You know how I'm wired from playing against me, I had to give it my best shot each and every week.

Maybe Mrs. Landers and Kawaii Kills can come back and help Mrs. Doug wrap up the scoreboard cellar. And then we can all laugh at them.

I didn't have time to scroll all the way down to see what she said but I assume Bea is fine with this post

She's pretty tough. If anyone actually laughed at her she would probably maul them like a rabid wolverine.

The DD2 platforming is clunky, but it is very consistent... at least it the game never ruins your day with the infamous "piston wall".

That's a good way to describe it. Once you get the hang of the platforming areas, you should be able to breeze through them consistently.

Yeah, I'm used to slow, clunky platforming from games like Lester the Unlikely, where you have to train yourself to realize that it is NOT about your reaction to something you already see, but your anticipation of a known outcome and known timing that wins the day.

Nope

The last season I played I was juggling an infant... now I'm juggling a 3 year old and an infant.

Like Bearcat-doug, I can't justify participating if I'm not going to give it my all.
(though the GREAT contest compilation thread does make me consider it, as a slide further down the rankings  )

Well, leg day is done so I will start giving my likely only try on this for the week.
Hopefully it will be enough for participation.

From tomorrow and on I will be too busy having fun crunching and debugging the hell out of Marble Madness data.

How about a 2 year old and TWO infants?

Unlike people such as Arch and Doug, I will gladly slum my way up the rankings with terrible scores

I wouldn't say that....you kicked ass last year!

So did Toxie even though he got distracted licking Ding Dongs. He loves the creamy filling.

Same here. I think I'm only two wins out of 3rd place all time, but like you said I just don't feel right if I'm not able to give it a 100% effort every week. I'm still in 5th place overall, which isn't bad for only having played two full seasons.
