I agree, I know for a fact I am not going to be in the top 5 this week and I will never make it into the top 3 for the year, so I am just meeting the minimum to get the weekly point. I know it is pretty shitty attitude, but when there are so many people talking about rolling the score and beating the game, I don't stand a chance.
Now when a game shows up that I have a chance...it is on like Donkey Kong, or Contra I should say.

Good luck to all this week! Have fun with it....

For my part, this is not much about saying that I'm going to roll the score or to beat the game in one life than setting rules correctly and having them ready for any circumstances. At best, this should be done before the contest begins, but you know, there's nobody currently doing it as a delegated responsibility. Maybe in 2012...

Seeing that someone already posted a score of 840,000, the score-rolling question definitely deserved a thought prior of anybody actually doing it.

I seriously couldn't take anymore.  Time for bed!  I'll try more if I have more time.  Decent starting score:

217,150

Oh, and question, would it be possible to keep a tally of the current top ten scores or something on the first page of every thread? Not sure if you guys do that or have in the past, but it's really useful. Saves having to dig through the thread to see who's scored what.

That sounds like a good idea. I keep track of the scores throughout the week in a separate file for updating the leaderboard, but I can add a section to the first post with all of the scores as they come in.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

Cool man, just a thought. It's something they do over at AA all the time, so instead of trudging through the million posts I just look at the first page to see the tallies. Really helpful, though it makes you have to do a bit more work.

It's not that much extra work. I can just copy & paste the info in the first post. I'll probably update the info once a day, unless a lot of scores come in throughout any particular day.

Cool, thanks bimmy. Let's see if I can do better today, provided I'm feeling insane enough.

Emulator, duh.

EDIT: Oh, GOD, 1942 is HORRIBLE.

Here is a quick score. I also wanted to say that I finally got a working NES. I sold the other one and bought me a nice Top Loader. Notice my TV only has the video connected. The music in this game is terrible. I'll be giving it another attempt on Saturday when I have more time.

New score below.

I started playing this and thought, "Where is the red plane? What IS this?"

Would you believe a friend of mine insists that 1942 is better than 1943??

Better yet, in one of the e-zines, someone says that 1942 "feels more polished" than 1943, I LOL'ed

1942 needs some turd polish.

Well, actually, in terms of actual play 1942 IS better, it just has meek graphics and an irritating soundtrack.

And the jerkyness of the plane. And the gun that randomly don't work. And the invisible enemies. And the landscape that makes it impossible to see. And the one variety of boss. And the repetitiveness. And the best soundtrack ever.

Yeah if not for all that my favorite game ever. Think the crude Atarilike gameplay is growing on me.

It's weird I never notice invisible planes. Is your NES connected with an AV cable or RF switch?

It's flicker,or sprite limitations so the connection shouldn't matter.
