Did you reach the final bosses with enough time to beat the first and maybe even the second one and then choked? Because that's what happened to me tonight!

I didn't get much time on NG2. Also, NG3 is by far the easiest of the 3. I never took the time to memorize which items I should get, so just got them all. In NG3, you can see what it is before you slash it! Finally though, this week is for the championship. NG2 was just another week.

NG3 isn't the easiest for me at all. I don't like the time limit in the final act. I don't like having to rush.

I've no deathed the first Ninja Gaiden many times. It's brutal trying to no death NG3, at least for me.

 

Don't look now guys but I'm in Act 7...

Ya. I’m there with ya. I had two or three one death runs where I did beat the final bosses but champions preform when it counts. I’m not there yet.

For me, running through the game as quickly as possible is best. I didn't have any trouble at all with level 7. NG I can make it to 6 without much trouble, but usually end up quitting there. NG2, I got frustrated quick. Mostly just didn't have any real motivation to get better. NG3 just came easier. I actually enjoyed most of the game, and I'm not one to play through these games just for fun.

I wanted to score at least 600k this week. Oh well.

I think that this game humbled you a bit. You expected to be able to no death it in a few days. Can't do that unless you're bertsampson.
 

Figured somebody would pull some hijinks. I was planning on posting at 8, 11 NA time, but I had to put the 2 year old to bed. I'm posting with my phone now.

It's okay, I promptly blew it in 7-1.   Made it all the way to the final bosses on my next life and then blew that too. Guess it's all settled!

not sure if anyone else had zero experience with this game going in. I came damn close. I just knew a no death complete run was what it would take. I figured most of us would.

Its a really good game though. 

BTW, there's a trick to the act 6 boss so that you never have to take damage from him.

Just have that weapon that shoots out straight above and below you, and use that to defend against the rocks that fall from the ceiling. Otherwise you're somewhat dependent on the RNG.


 

But then you lose points for not having full ninpo! There's also points lost from skipping other sub weapons along the way.

Well, we did that the first time we held a tournament, and people complained about it. Might return to it at some point, but can't promise there will be no complaint  

Well, congrats to bertsampson, the human cyborg as we like to call him, for winning this year end tournament! Well done sir, that score is through the roof, literally!

Thanks a bunch to anyone involved in the contest, you guys and gals make it possible every year that goes by. This year in particular reminded us that having a core of regular players is very important, and that every little contribution here and there will always be appreciated. The contest slowed down, but hasn't come close dying either.

Special thanks to Bea for being so helpful this year around, just after retiring from the competition. It was a pleasure to work with you on this, everything went smooth, as expected from a classy lady like you. A big thanks to Bimmy as well, even if he's been AWOL for a good while now. We'll be waiting for your return duder!

I'm still kicking myself for choking at the final bosses. That was my one real opportunity to at least beat arn and I blew it.

Thank you so much for running these contests. I have had less and less time to play due to "life," but I'm glad I was able to play my favorite console as much as these contests have made me want to. Bimmy and Guil did a great job again, and Bea was a nice addition.

My third child, second son was born in August. My wife has just returned to work this month, and I have quit my job to go back to school. I started in October, and then we decided we were going to get our house ready to sell and buy a bigger house to better accommodate our family. So, I have been very busy. With that, I will not be returning to compete in the contests next year. Not completely retiring, however, so I will see you all again sometime down the road.

It's been loads of fun competing against you all, and I hope you all continue to play!
