First time attempting to write anything with this. Doesn't work correctly.
INL Kazzo 1.2b (Nov 2013) programmer compatible w/ INL SNES 1.3 (Oct 2016) board.
NintendoAge user berserkerNES sent me his Final Fantasy II/IV repro to have the ROM patch updated to this:

It will be my first time using the Kazzo to write anything. It was originally purchased to dump NES/Famicom prototypes. I followed this guide online to update the Kazzo to allow SNES flashing:
The SNES flasher tool can erase the cart and the cart will show a black screen when attempting to boot after erasure, so I know it's actually wiping the 4MB chip.
When I flash an un-patched Final Fantasy II USA, the game shows a title screen. It just goes black when I press the A button and I'm stuck listening to the title screen music. At that point, I can press X and it brings up a menu as if I was playing the game. After creating a save file from that menu and resetting the system, I can select the save file. When I select the existing file, it starts in an overworld, but the screen is filled with water and there is no land at all. The water and character are animated, but the character is immobile with no terrain to walk on.
Resetting SRAM doesn't help. I erased and flashed again. This is all repeatable. I get no error message when erasing and flashing.
I have a properly patched ROM that works great in Higan (emulator) and on a real SNES with my SD2SNES, but it has similar issues when I try to flash that.
I tried flashing an un-modified Super Mario World. It plays, but Yoshi's tongue will not extend (!).
I tried flashing Tetris Attack. The title screen is glitchy. It locks up if you wait for the gameplay demonstration. You can get to the main menu, but it locks up if you try to start a game.
Since even unpatched ROMs don't work correctly, I need to figure out if I'm doing wrong. Is it likely there's a problem with the INL SNES board or the INL Kazzo flasher?
Thanks!
