So Doom 3 downloaded in sleep mode while I worked. Started it up, got to the screen asking you to log in to bethesda.net or whatever one it is called. I was able to press B to back out from that screen without any issues and was able to start the game right away. I am playing it right now without issues. So maybe Bethesda fixed it quick.

I downloaded og doom and it won’t let me back out of the Bethesda sign in screen.

I have heard 1 and 2 are different where it'd be just one login and your done for good, whereas 3 was supposed to be always online to play.  Not sure why that would make the difference here though.  I'm kind of nervous to close my game now. I've put console in sleep mode and charged it and what not since playing, but this just seems strange.  I debated on getting 1 and 2 to test it out, but I'm honestly not very good at them so I'm holding off on buying them right now.

It took me an hour to get past the login for Doom 1. Really annoying. It doesn't make any sense as to why an OFFLINE game is required to login. But then there was so much backlash about this, Bethesda tweeted that they are working on a "fix" (as if this was a mistake, yeah okay) so that the login is optional. I dont know what it is but lately certian companies like Blizzard and Bethesda have just been leaving bad tastes in my mouth. I don't even want Doom 2 or 3 anymore after this. I'll just play them on PC.

I can confirm you can just hit B to back out of the login screen on Doom 3. I put 3 hours into it, closed the game and opened it again to load my save without any issues. I have about 5 hours into it now, it's a really great game and feels like I'm playing a new Doom release.

I had to sign up with a new account...despite already having one but it wasn't accepting my old one. I had to register on their website, not through Doom since that didn't work either. It took several tries to even get it to register the new account. What a hassle!

It really does.  I feel like I don't remember hardly anything about it, despite playing the OG XBox version last year.

I am also pissed about this (doom 1). I tried to back out of the login screen today and it didn’t work so I gave in and was like fuck it I’ll “create a new account” only to get a “login error” screen. Get the fuck outta here. What a bunch of bullshit. I don’t know if I even care to attempt creating an account on my lap top. Not happy at all what a shitty setup.

It was a real pain in the ass. Even if I did get it working after an hour it left such a bad taste in my mouth I don't want to download Doom 2 or 3 and don't even feel compelled to play Doom 1. Sad.

Chasm lol. I remember the PC Gamer review that absolutely tore into it.

Also, anyone who has never played Doom should be put on gamer probation.

Truth be told, I never even got to play the whole game. I was playing on one of those demo CDs that had like a hundred game demos on em.

I had the shareware Doom for the longest time. I eventually got the Ultimate Doom with both 1 and 2 on CD rom. Thems were the days.

Patch released. Update now always “later” option on sign in screen. Still has the feel of an infomercial being the sign in screen is forced.

Nice! I saw Doom automatically updated, I hoped that would be part of it. Even with the problem fixed it still leaves a bit of a bad aftertaste though.

Doom 3 remains unchanged as you still just press B to get to the main screen when they ask you to log in.
