Boo. Outside of the slowdown on the SNES the r-type series has a clean track record. Your fish franchise has several dud's and already had a modetn release.

If you read the news release it's a little confusing. It sounds like they are going to use r-type final and just make adjustments to it like adding levels. It also says something about starting a kickstarter. This might be a ways out. Is this not the original publishers?

Irem has largely stopped making video games, so Granzella (made up of Irem's video game staff) has taken over that aspect.

Okay that's good to hear. I love r-type, but this is raising some red flags for me. It also says they're adding difficulty settings which is unfortunate IMO. R-type is supposed to be soul crushingly difficult.

I just contacted the developer and they said they are sorry for the short lived kickstarter window and would like to look into possibly reopening a way for people to support the project

I hope they do. I didn’t go in on the first window and they might be able to hit more stretch goals. On the other side of it, it’s kind of unfair to the people that are already backing it. I think they would have to differentiate between the slip cover they gave the first 8,000 or whatever people and what they offer the next window of people.

 

Yea well they only kept the kickstarter open for 7 days. That’s a short enough period for some people to totally miss it. It should have been at least 3-4 weeks 😪

 

I don't know if they needed the money from the kick starter, I think they were trying to gauge the interest. I saw it open and passed because it had $30 shipping fee. When this thing is ready to be sold to the public there is no way this will sell for $90, so I figured I'd wait. Looking back I should have just looked at the $30 as the cost of the slip cover and threw down.  

Granzella contacted me late last night. They are reopening PayPal preorders for 30 days.
