Great main event but I thought it was bullshit that Johnny just held him down to secure the win.

Yeah I watched it.  The undercard fight dragged on forever.  I think every fight almost went the full time and to a desicion.  Was nice to see rousey beat the hell out of corriea in dominant fashion that quick, but It was also a LONG wait for a 34 second fight.

Yep, I used to buy them but not anymore. I pay for all the sports channels and one of the 300 number channels is a fox sports mma channel and it had the whole Rousey fight on immediately after the PPV went off. I got to watch it for free. Can't justify buying something I knew would last less than a minute, kinda like Nick Ross!

Yes, the rematch has been announced. Unfortunately the UFC wants to do it in July at UFC 200, but Holly Holm has expressed that she doesn't want to wait that long, and I don't blame her. She's been fighting at least 4 times per year for the past 10 years, and July would mean an 8-month layoff. She's the kind of fighter that stays sharp by remaining active. Not to mention that it's probably going to be 8 months of promotion and media duties that she isn't used to doing either.

I'm very interested to see what the UFC does with Conor McGregor now that he obliterated Aldo like that. I think his next fight should be against the winner of Donald Cerrone/Rafael Dos Anjos for the lightweight title. It would be the best promotion for the UFC ever if McGregor was a simultaneous 2-division champion. He's the most marketable guy they have, and luckily he seems to have the skills to back it up, so he's the sure-fire lead car in the UFC money train until someone can derail him. I would much rather see him fight Donald Cerrone than Rafael Dos Anjos, mainly because it'd be a sure-fire striking war that I think is more favourable to McGregor. A fight against Dos Anjos is very very risky, as I believe that Dos Anjos is stylistically a bad matchup for McGregor, and he's not nearly as marketable of a fighter as Donald Cerrone...which sounds weird since he's the current champion. But facts are facts, and the guy is not exactly a hype machine.

Damn it! RDA is injured and out of the fight with Conor. Aldo's team got offered the fight but he isn't in fighting shape. It appears they're definitely looking for a replacement and not pulling Conor from the card.

Man I really hope Nate Diaz gets the call. He probably just needs to talk a little bit of shit on Twitter for Joe Silva to jump on it. If only Donald Cerrone hadn't just fought, he'd be a great test.

I would love to see a cowboy vs mc gregor fight. Ive always really liked cerrones style, that brutal muay thai- striking with the long legs that set up subs (like the recent head triangle finish of the other "cowboy")

Looks like they were trying to get Nate Diaz as the opponent but the deal fell through trying to decide on a fighting weight. Diaz's camp said 165 but the UFC brass want it at 155

I was told it was official by a buddy with ties to the Diaz camp, but have yet to see it on the ufc site.

Oh man that would be great if Nate stole his thunder. It seems to be a time of hype train derailing in MMA, with over the past few years nearly all the polarizing undefeated (in recent years) figures accumulating a loss or two. Of course I'm reminded of Fedor losing to Werdum, Anderson losing to Chris Weidman, and more recently Jose Aldo losing to McGregor, and Ronda Rousey losing to Holly Holm. Even the new poster boy & girl for the UFC, Sage Northcutt and Paige Van Zant, lost each of their last fights, respectively. MMA is such a dangerous sport, one single mistake and you can have a world-shocking upset. That's the gamble of building up marketable fighters, they aren't Hulk Hogan and this isn't pro wrestling, where you can assure that they stay unbeaten and on top of the pecking order as far as marketing goes. They might get KO'ed in 13 seconds a la Jose Aldo, and any aura of invincibility they had (and tons of marketability that is attached to that) is gone in a flash. Wouldn't surprise me if Nate triangle choked him in the first round, and then for Nate to get a huge push. Of course it would leave the UFC in such an awkward position for what to do with Conor afterward. Going back to defend the featherweight title wouldn't have the same zing if he lost in another weight class between featherweight title defenses.

Forgive me for going a little off-topic here, but last night I was watching some boxing on Showtime. Lightweights of course. These guys were absolutely beating the crap out of each other. But while they were each staggering each other at times, neither possesed the power to finish the job. I grew up during the Tyson/Holyfield era when blood was in the water, someone was coming in for the kill. It's a damn shame the state of boxing these days. Thankfully in MMA you can watch smaller fighters and still see an entertaining fight without being a student of the sport.
