My father asked me to look this up suggesting it may be a prototype, though I'm not sure.  It says Obelix on the front and top side of the label.  I have no way of testing the cartridge to see if it works.  I'm just trying to figure out what it is right now, and if it may or may not be worth something.  Here are pictures I took.

Is really difficult to know...

Could be a Combat without label and with some stickers on it, you should test it to know I think.

Ok, yeah I have no idea. I'll post back here once I find a way to test it.

Could be a repro.

Could be just a regular cart that's had damaged labels crudely replaced.

looks like the label says Obelix, is that the game? Isn't that one of those unreleased or nearly-unreleased usa titles?

Yeah, it says Obelix on the front and top side. I've never really played with taking apart cartridges before, I'm sure there is a number or something to denote what it exactly is. I've checked the corners of the stickers and apparently there is no label on this thing at all, so I'm not sure what to make of that. All of the other cartridges we have have their labels on them, just not this one. My father is taking it to a local toy store, I'll know if it works today or tomorrow hopefully.

That's why I was leaning towards repro, I didn't think that made it out here (or I might be thinking of Asterix).

Ok, from what I found out, apparently the cartridge works, and Obelix starts up. So it does look like a reproduction.

did some looking around. apparently there are retail Obelix NTSC carts, but they are pretty rare. There's also a PAL version.

OP would probably have to open it to determine exactly what it is. Atari retail carts are generally mask roms, but I don't know if there are obvious differences between NTSC and PAL carts. A sample cart may be the same case. If it has an eprom it's probably a proto.

If I'm not mistaken, they look like the old 3.5" floppy disk labels.

I'll have to figure out how to take it apart. I've never done before, so I don't want to break it. I'll post back here after I find out something.

There'a tabs on the connector side. Practice up as you'll likely break them.

That's an interesting cartridge. You can try to open it up using this method:

http://atariage.com/forums/topic/...

Do you have another cartridge to compare it's weight against?
