I just got an alert that my new Toys R Us sign was delivered. I was excited because that meant I could pick it up from the FedEx Office store on my way home from work.

Then, I noticed the delivery town was completely wrong. I called customer support and they opened a case. Someone from FedEx contacted me and told me that the package was delivered to a business amongst 294 packages.

They said I should hopefully get my package but that it might take months. They said the business usually puts wrong packages to the side and hope I can get it in a few days. However, they said I should contact my seller in two days to find out their lost package procedures.

I feel bad for the seller. I don’t want a refund; I just want my sign. I wonder how long I should give FedEx. I’ve already informed the seller of the situation.

geez that really sucks. I know mistakes happen but it really sucks when a package is delivered to the wrong address. My brother bought a nintendo prototype a few years ago and tracking showed it arrived. However, it didnt arrive at his house. He went door to door in his neighborhood asking if anybody possibly got his package. It just so happened an older gentleman had opened the package and couldnt figure out why he got a nintendo game. He was fixing to toss it out with the trash.

It is an old school customer pick up sign, the variation where the word pick up is embossed.

He was going to toss it in the trash without looking at the address label??

Nice. Here is the one I traded for last year when they hype was going on. I have yet to see one just like this. I do know this one had a mate just like it but the guy I traded with was keeping it. I think.

Yeah, thats what he said.  I know I couldn’t believe it either when my brother told me.  It was an unreleased title(Mike Ditka Football) which would’ve made it even harder to swallow had it been tossed.

Wow, good thing your brother was persistent! I can't believe the old guy wouldn't read the label.

Yes, that's the exact sign that I bought!

Edit: I could drive to the business, but FedEx didn’t give me the name. Should I call to try and get it?

Hope you are able to get it soon! It always sucks when a shipping company screws up and you have to wait longer for your treasures to arrive.

From Craig maybe? or his buddy. I would be much happier knowing you got the mate instead of there be more variants like this one. The majority were just vinyl stick ons.

Whats it going to hurt to try? If they give it to you, you dont have to wait who knows how long and time is of the essence on stuff like this. Who knows what the other business is doing to the box. They could have it in a corner the whole time untouched. They could keep having to move it out of the way. They could be stacking other stuff on top. It could get damaged like this. I would try like crazy to get the name

Edit: I mean i guess it could just be me being anxious and paranoid about stuff i have out in shipping thats expensive.

Call back and get the name of the business. If it's reasonably close, go to them in person, pick it up. If fed ex refuses to give you the name, tell them that they're at fault, start taking names and escalate. That will get them to drop the name of the company that has it.

I've had to pick up packages this way, occasionally in Taiwan, but the hassle out does the worry and wait

Plus it should already be sorted and put aside by the company that received it.

Our place likely gets that many packages a day, and if they got one misrouted like that it would likely be back on the truck the next day.

I got it from a guy in NH, he had a ton of variants.

The packages was picked up and delivered to the correct address today. I was able to pick it up at the FedEx store.

On a more serious note, I've played EarthBound today for so long, I feel all tense and mentally worn out.
Then you called your mother and felt better?

I don't know what I'll do with it yet. It will need some framing at minimum. I like the light box idea though.

I had a similar incident with either UPS or Fedex. I can't remember which, but I was actually on the other side of this situation.

We had received a package for another business within our packages. I guess it was just mis-sorted as the business was similar and not too far away. I contacted said business using the number/contact info on the box and got the 3rd degree. I had to explain several times it was delivered to us by mistake. After some back and forth about how they were going to get it, it turned into "you come get it within the week or it gets returned to sender". One of the managers got it the next day and apologized for his worker's attitude. We no longer attempt to do this anymore as the hassle isn't worth trying to be nice.

Sounds like Weird Al trying to drop off the package in UHF.

It was ridiculous.

The item was being shipped from the same company so it had their contact info like ours do. When I called them up he had no idea how I got his number or knew his name. I kept telling them "Dude, it's on the box. I have your package in front of me. It was mis-delievered". It took a good 30 minutes and ended up with "Well, I'll let my manager know and he'll decide what to do" and me going "You've got a week or it goes back to sender". Yea, the item was worth over 1k so I got an apology call pretty quickly from the manager before he came in the next day to apologize in person.
