Awesome last update! I always like learning about the influences that shape a person's own projects.

OT question, sorry.

How does this work copyright wise?

I mean, let say I want to put in a game I'm selling a couple of verses from the Carmina Burana (Carl Orff) or Yesterday (Beetles): since it is NES format I'm free to do it freely? Don't I have to respect copyright? Or it depends if I make money out of it or not? If you can help with this it would be very welcome. Thanks in advance!

Good luck with the last phase of this really interesting project, I see you are really close to the goal, it would really be a shame not reaching it now! Best wishes!

Cheers!

No, in general that would be a violation of copyright. It doesn't matter whether it's NES, and it doesn't matter if you're charging money. You need a license to do it legally.

In some situations, cover songs can be licensed automatically by paying mechanical royalties. Other things can't be licensed this way.

I pay royalties for MOON8 in every form that's feasible to me. This may or may not cover everything I'm doing, but I don't really wish to discuss my legal liabilities on an open forum like this.

Sorry about asking a rude question, I didn't realize I was, now I do.

My apologies about that. Thank you for your answer.

Please understand that I was just impulsively wondering what I'm allowed to do composing music for my NES game, especially since someone else is concerned it its production, and not trying to investigate on someone else business.
This is the only reason for me asking the question. Thanks for the link, I'll read it carefully.

Again, best luck with your project, you deserve it!

Cheers!

I don't really mind the asking, but copyright law is complicated and I am not qualified to give legal advice about it.

That's for sure.

Back talking about Lizards. The graphics of some areas are impressive, considering this is developed on a NES. I like the Panda by the way, that enemy has some unique personality. And it is full of little details graphic wise not really common in NES games. Also I like the fact that the areas are really unique and different background wise and scenario wise from each other, which makes any game less monotonous. And from the video you made displaying different in-game animations, you can tell you put a lot of dedication in your work so far. Also, from my little testing, the game seems completely bug-free.

It is surely a very promising NES title.

Well, I tried to pledge to put you over, but Kickstarter won't accept my card. If you could do Paypal, I could do this. My bank is pretty protective about cards after they had a bunch of numbers stolen years ago.

If you have any other method to back this, please let me know. It looks like my bank and kickstarter just can't get along to process my card.

So, I guess after talking with my bank, they deny all international claims on their cards. Even though Kickstarter is an American Based company, their process their payments through Great Britain. Very odd. I really want to back this, but at this point, my hands are tied.
