Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the weekly contests.  This week’s game is going to take us to the streets of New York City, where the crime wave is high with muggings mysterious.  The police and detectives are furious ‘cause they can’t find the source of this lethally evil force.  This is serious so get me a quarter.  I was a witness, get me a reporter!  Call April O’Neil in on this case, and you’d better hurry up, there’s no time to waste!  We need help, like quick, on the double.  Have pity on the city, man it’s in trouble!  We need heroes like the Lone Ranger, when Tonto came pronto, when there was danger.  They didn’t say we’d be there in half an hour, ‘cause they displayed…Turtle Power!  T-U-R-T-L-E Power!!  That’s right, dudes and dudettes.  This week’s totally tubular and radical game is going to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.  Yeah, you all remember this one when it was in the arcades when you were kids.  The memories of pumping quarter after quarter into this magnificent game as you took on the Foot Clan with your friends.  Or maybe you played it at home while shouting Cowabunga! and scarfing down pizzas made of anchovies, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream.  Wait, you never tried Michaelangelo’s pizza concoctions?  Well, let me tell you that you are missing out on quite a…oh no!!  Bummer dudes, it looks like Shredder just made off with April while we were reminiscing about the Heroes in a Half Shell!  Well, don’t just stand there, get out there and rescue her.  Oh, and one more thing before you all chase after the Foot…go ninja, go ninja, GO!!  Hahaha, I made a funny!!! (not really)  Here are the rules:

• 1 player only
• 3 lives only (You only get to use 3 lives total and must take your picture after you die 3 times)
• You may not play any of the game on your 4th life.  You must immediately stop and take your picture after dying for the 3rd time
• Play as whichever turtle you choose
• Get the lowest score possible
• Furthest progression in the game takes precedence
• Furthest progression with the lowest score wins
• GENRE: Beat ‘Em Up

The contest ends Sunday, 4/20/14 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Lowest score possible eh? That sure will make the Baxter boss fight more challenging. Really though score variation is going to be minimal outside that boss fight and leaving random environmental items/skateboarding chick in tact.

Two deaths this time..to Krang and Shredder. Just got a little too lazy with my positioning. I could have done better,but still missed plenty of opportunities.

I like playing this game 2 player but nobody ever wants to play with me

Oops. Started playing and went into automatic mode and forgot about the rules. Once I realized it, I just continued as far as I could make it one 1 continue.

Maybe tomorrow I can get a score submitted.

Anyone have this problem?

^Looks like the cart could be dirty or just not making full contact inside the nes. Jostle the cart a little in the console or take it out and reinsert it and see if that fixes the problem.

I cleaned it the best I could, broke my screwdriver so I can't open thd cart. Tried taking the cart in and out like 20 times and no go. All other games I tried worked so it has to be the cart, right. It loads super easy and if fine until that opening spot.

The lowest score was 717 during the summer tournament, so it will be interesting to see if anyone can top that.

I am going to have to play on the psp, stupid cart.

I really don't remember this game being this tough!

Some of you may know this, but when you kill a foot soldier with an object (sewer lid, street sign, etc) it does not score a point.

I have to test it again, I am not sure if the blowing up barrels do or not. I don't make it that far very often without using continues.

It does not count as a kill. Also if you strike an object (not including barrels) in close proximity of a foot soldier,it will hurt them but not kill them. Distance is key. Also the foot soldiers want to box you in as one will try to line up in front and behind you so positioning is key as well. And remember that you also have unlimited use of your special attack with no penalty,so swing away!

My score is 6 points higher than it was in the summer tournament, but I got back to Krang again, so I'm fine with this and for the sake of my sanity and thumbs, this will be it for this week. Good luck to all the rest of the week.

I checked my old score from the tournament and I had 724. It's a good thing that I'm retired, because I don't think I could top that even though the lowest score was 7 points less.

I know I can shave my score down,but I'm not sure how much. Getting the foot soldiers to be where you need them to be to kill them with objects is tougher than you would think.

Got to Krang. I played this game a lot as a kid, so maybe I'll be able to place this week.

Hitting Foot Soldiers with objects will actually kill them in this game without registering a point, especially with the barrels.  The trick with the set of rules for this game is to kill as many Foot Soldiers with objects as possible.

And to answer BilltownSparty's question, you get an extra life every 200 points.  So, you get an extra one at 200, 400, 600, etc.

The placement of enemies and the barrels are the big factors.  In my run, I killed three soldiers with one barrel.  However, with the barrels before and after that one, I didn't get a single kill.  With the way they move, its not easy.
