Same here. I thought I used to own a copy, but I don't recall having ever played it.

I can't quite put my finger on it but this game reminds me of something ...

The platforming is definitely the bane of good runs. Ninja Gaiden-esque to be certain!

I just took the pic there as I started that stage with exactly 50,000.  Today is the first time I've ever played it and made it to 5-2 before I croaked the first time.  I kept on playing after that to get through the first form of the final boss.  I can definitely see how simple slip ups could mess up a good run.  At least it's a much shorter game than The Guardian Legend.

There are some stages where the platforming and enemy knock back is especially rough such as 5-2 (narrow platforms, birds and flying fish) and 7-2 (the sewer stage with the big rats). Fortunately you get infinite continues to practice.

You also have to be careful on ladders you can fall off while climbing them.

I want to try this one, but I am still in the middle of a TGL run to improve my second place score.

I probably would have had a comfortable top 5 score had I not died on that boss. I've tried a few times since and died from stupid mistakes.

Heh. I died from a missed jump in 7-2 and then for the heck of it I continued to see how far I could get on my next life. I made it to the final boss with a score of 399k. If only I hadn't messed up that one jump.

As soon as I get over 400k I'm probably done with this. It should be soon enough. I just can't make stupid mistakes because of nerves.

Stage 5 is annoying.

Stage 5 will be the sticking point in this contest. It's where the game gets hard.

7-2 the sewer level might be hardest in the game. It's the one that I dread most and that I'm happiest to get past.

I got to 9-1 with continues today. Maybe 9-2 I can't remember. The bio lab area. That run I posted was my first shot at point racking. If you are going to have 400k by game's end I must be missing a lot of golden opportunities.

Well, time to get started on this before calling it a night.
Let's see how badly I will screw up.

Guillavoie got his first place score of 363,500 by 8-1 in the 2011 contest. I still think that is amazing. I can't do that.

And that is it.

That is all I got for the week. Maybe it will be good for top 5.
This is probably it for me for this week. Point pressing this game is boring me to hell.
I believe this is where we stop.
I need to be less conservative with my weapon usage and focus more on point pressing, but I tried to see if I could no-death this thing at first before focusing on that.

I'm paused at the last stage with 383,500 points. Let's see if I can reach 400k. However I do, this will probably be it for me. These one life contests are way too stressful!

401,700. Unfortunately I flubbed a jump and failed to even reach the final boss.

BTW, the safest way to fight the 9-2 boss is with grenades. Using your whip you risk bumping into him.

Haha, when I'm more relaxed I might give it another go. It's just SO ANNOYING when you do all that point pressing and then make a stupid jump or whatever and have to reset. That is some rage inducing shit.

Those jumps on 11-2,with the crumbling platforms and the ninjas is probably the cheapest crap ever.

And talk about fair...the final boss's gun shots go length of the screen and yours don't even travel one fifth that? Yeah that's super duper ultra fair.
