The Official Fake Box/Manual/Cart/Reseal/Stolen Picture auction thread If you see a fake on eBay, post it here.

Lately there have been many threads pop up pointing out the many fakes that we see floating around eBay. If you see one, please feel free to alert the community by posting the link in this thread. Regardless of your stance on fakes/counterfeits/repros/hacks/pirates/etc , I feel that any and all of these should be pointed out and correctly labeled by the community for what they really are even if it is to merely pass on knowledge to the rest of us here of the differences in these items, no matter the intent of the seller.

I do not want the forum cluttered up with a new thread everyday pointing out a fake nor do I feel that all of these sellers need a mention in the HOS. I do think that any non-original box/manual/cart/label/ that is spotted for sale somewhere should be mentioned here, that is what this thread is for. If every non-authentic item is posted here, we can all learn as a community what is real/fake/repro/hack/pirate/etc and posess that much more knowledge when the next one comes around.

This thread is NOT to turn into a debate/arguement/flame war. If you think whatever is posted is A-OK and you want to defend it, make a private thread and post away, same goes for those of you that feel the opposite way. This thread, like every other thread here, will be monitored by the MODs and Admins so please don't be a douche, you will only make yourself look bad and cause even more turbulence in the community.

NA member nes pimp has started a thread on how to spot fakes here, please read through it or feel free to add your own info to help out the community.

Thanks everyone,
Joe the Laserman

Nice. This will cut threads down a lot! I was glad y'all did the dumpster diving one, too.

-------------------------

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

Hey Laserman, is there a thread to help people detect fakes? For example the front and back of a cartridge does not line up perfectly when you look at bottom of the game where the pcb sticks out. This means the back was swapped out and the game could be a repro. The nintendo seal of approval is not shiny, No H seam on a sealed game, etc. If not, we should start one that way people know what to look for if they think a game is fake.

I think someone (Dain?) had one for Stadium Events and I am sure there are others for similar situations, I will have to dig around. If anyone finds one or would like to start and maintain a thread like that, send me a PM or post in this thread and I will be sure to link it in the 1st post here.

this is a thread for people trying to pass them off as real items, not for people that explicitly state it's a repro box

I already argued this in another thread.
Those repro boxes are considered counterfeit, because they could be passed off as real by the buyer, if not necessarily the original seller.

Another fake hagane: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hagane-Th...

Hagane should be a ramp cart, and of course this one is missing the label, and from Thailand, etc, etc...

Fake.

TBH, i find the Terranigma one a bit shady because he doesn't explitly state that the boxes/manuals are reproduction too.

I just figured anyone actually wanting to buy that game would put 2 and 2 together, maybe i have to much faith in people hah

I don't see "Repro" anywhere in either of those listings. All I see is "Factory Sealed" (repro factory???), "Brand New", "Rare" and "US NTSC Release". Am I missing a disclaimer on either of these? I know if I were average Joe blow off the street and didn't know any better, I can't see any reason to believe these are not authentic.

Again as i said i have to much faith in people, i figure if you're in the gaming market you would know these weren't released in the US and would know they were repros.

rewording my statement would probably be better   blargh

No where in either of those auctions do they say "repro" or anything close to that.  If the clown selling that "sealed Secret of Mana 2" is a member here he should be hall of shamed.

All of the following are blatant lies:

"U.S NTSC RELEASE"
"FACTORY SEALED (NIB)"
"Hard to Find Sealed"

A shrink wrap machine in someone's basement hardly qualifies as a "factory".
