Some idle commentary:

I recall talk of this system being in existence from credible sources.
From what I heard, there were only a small number of hand built units made
As a joint project, this probably came from Sony's end and thus the "PlayStation" logo (perhaps after the decision was made to go it alone)

Claims 500 were made and all but 5 were allegedly destroyed how true that is, is still up in the air. Regardless if this is a fake unit it's a well thought out one.

So the owner has been answering questions on Assembled Gamer site,

Weirdest response so far is where he got it, said that his dad worked for this guy he thinks was named "Olaf", and then his dad's company went out of business and his dad was suppose to throw this out, and kept it...!!

Olaf....!?!? Olaf Olaffson... The CEO of Sony back in 1994!?!

Just seems weird??

Feels like old news to me. lol I knew about the history, and know a prototype had to exist, but the biggest news to me is that I've never seen one in a real recent photo (outside of older 90s magazines and mockups anyway iicr)

Cool stuff, but of course knowing that Nintendo and Sony had a thing once upon a time, I'm not as excited as half of the people that run up to me at work saying "betcha didn't know that there's a Nintendo made by Sony out there"... Yeah, I knew. But still never seen a recent photo of one 'till... recent.

I watched the video above. It was not easy to get through but I watched it. If this guy has seen the unit before then where are the pics? He said that he has seen it in person at a trade show in Orlando. And he has seen pics of it on the internet. Where is the link to the old pics?

This image has been floating around the net for years.  I posted it on my site but can't remember the source.

There needs to be more information available from the source/owner. Does it even turn on or have a BIOS?

Either someone intervened and he was stopped from sharing anything, or real life just got in the way. Probably.

Bumping up a little bit here, found some prototype pics, artist's renditions, pics where the Sony CD portion was used as an 'add on', documents, and other specs. Most of these where from EGM's magazine.

It looked like they where gonna make the SNES ND CDs with a floppy-like outter case to protect the CD. Probably a concept Sony later used for their PSP UMD discs?

At this point chances are it's legit, but I've seen lots of fakes go further than this over the years.

And no, I'm not 100% sure if I should use further or farther, but I hate farther cause I always think I'm writing two words and not one. </segway>

I hope they turn it on without the cartridge too just in case it has some sort of menu system built in. Maybe if it's properly documented and whatever data it has is dumped it can someday be remade.

My problem with them going to HK... is that It makes me think that they will be alowing some crappy HK company to make a clone.

WWWOooow......  When I heard they're going to Hong Kong to unveil it I had a feeling that something was up... Dude sits on this for months and then randomly decideds to show the world in HONG KONG of all places! You know he got contacted by a guy who is paying a ton of money for him to be there with the system. Huge publicity stunt by some chinaman who's promoting this convention... Then at the end of the video you know he's been sitting on it, holding back information, just so he could make money off appearances. "I'd like to thank my sponsors"  What a douchebag.  Should have known when it was first seen on Reddit. The most ridiculous scum social media machine there is.    I'm discusted.  Can't believe this got into the wrong hands...
