I played BSB twice. I just ran through all the levels and avoided everything. Hopefully it's low score...

Also, fuck that game.  What a piece of shit.  Even worse than this one.

I have been working so hard to try to beat the Twin Galaxies record on it... I really hope it isn't progress and low score. :'(
And it is indeed a terrible game! Kind of explains why I ended up loving it.

Get used to them.
Almost all stages on Bad Street Brawler have really tight timers. Picking your fights properly there is a must.

Oh wonderful!

That's gonna be a Power Glove week, right? It will give me an excuse to test mine out at least.

The game is already terrible enough as it is.
Using the Power Glove would only make it unbearable! Could be fun IF THE BLOODY thing worked as intended.

I'm gonna try it! And then go back to controller for actual scoring.

Feel free to blame me for Bad Street Brawler. I suggested it. I don't think it's as bad a game as people make it out to be though. While the music isn't very good (I play on mute) and the graphics may turn people away, I think it plays well enough.

Ah, so you are the one responsible to bring that gem to the contest!
Well done!   I am loving it!

May I assure you that we're way passed beyond taking such things on a personal level. We try to make a good schedule, okay, but we know very well that we're not only picking gems and that everyones opinion will differ on about any games.

It might not be the best beat em up on the NES, but Bad Street Brawler is a good pick because it has a decent scoring system. I remember the fiasco trying to come up with rules for Roller Games last year.

Indeed, the scoring system works and that's a blessing to us for any given games we pick.

No offense taken.  We try to get a good balance of popular and not so popular titles into the contests, even if it means selecting a crappy game or two.  I can assure you there are some crappy games we played in the past that we will likely never play again (Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Athena come to mind), but then there's some decent games on the system we don't pick very often due to rules complications and headaches those games create.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Wait... we will never get to play such a fun, great game as Athena on the contest ever again?

Ooooffff, I can't get into Athena.  To me, it feels like a glitchy mess and the programmers didn't try to fix any of it at all.  The colors look bland and the music just sucks.  SNK could have done so much better.  Athena is one of my least favorite NES games.

It is a classic Micronics port. They are so terrible, play so poorly and have such weird glitches and poor graphics. Much akin to GnG and Ikari Warriors on the NES.
Everything I love in a game.

"Poor man's Double Dragon" or not, it's oddly satisfying being able to hit Mickie James in the head with a fire extinguisher

One could say that my tastes in games are... unconventional.
I get one heck of a kick out of those terrible Micronics ports.

Do you like Trojan? I don't think it's Micronics but it has the same sort of feel.

It is quite enjoyable, despite not being a Micronics game.
Also, score update page 1. Managed to crack 34K. Now to aim to 35K... after I get some sleep. I shouldn't be awake and playing video games at 2 am!

Hell no! It is time to be sleeping in bed, wearing nothing but your invisible pajamas, enjoying the warmth of your duvets!
