I second that motion!

EDIT: Plus some real good news:

(Henrik) Sedin finished the 2009-10 regular season with a League-leading, career-high and Canucks franchise-record 112 points (29 goals, 83 assists) to edge Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby (51-58--109) and Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin (50-59--109). Sedin becomes the first Canuck in franchise history and the ninth player in the past nine seasons to capture the Art Ross, joining Jaromir Jagr in 2001, Jarome Iginla in 2002, Peter Forsberg in 2003, Martin St. Louis in 2004, Joe Thornton in 2006, Sidney Crosby in 2007, Alex Ovechkin in 2008 and Evgeni Malkin in 2009.

Very classy tribute to Modano the other night though.    And if Latendresse can get his motor going for the whole year, you guys will probably make it next year.

Predictions on the first round guys?

EAST
Washington vs Montreal - I love to root for the underdog, and for Canada (except the Flames), but this one is a no-contest. Washington in 5.
New Jersey vs Philadelphia - Now THIS one I could see being an upset series. I figure every game will be close, and Philly takes it in 6.
Buffalo vs Boston - Not much to say here. Boston's good, but Ryan Miller is better. Buffalo in 6.
Pittsburgh vs Ottawa - Hard to go against the defending champions. I doubt they'll repeat as champions, but they'll make it past Ottawa. Pittsburgh in 7.

WEST
San Jose vs Colorado - San Jose has a huge monkey on their back with all their first-place-finish-first-round-exit years. Colorado may be the team to help them buck that trend, although I think they'll make a series of it. San Jose in 7.
Chicago vs Nashville - Not much to say here, the Hawks are gonna school the Preds. Hawks in 5.
Vancouver vs Los Angeles - LA is gonna have a tough time keeping up with Vancouver's offense. That said, Luongo hasn't been quite on his game, and it'll cost the Canucks in a couple games. Vancouver in 6.
Phoenix vs Detroit - Detroit may have made the final for the last two years, and despite the standings, many still consider them as contenders. Hate to break it to them, but Phoenix is the team to beat coming into the playoffs, and the Wings are going to get caught underestimating the opposition. Phoenix in 5.

Blackhawks have a good team this season, but shaky goaltending.  That could be their downfall in the playoffs.

Agree with your Washington pick, think that Philly's goaltending is way too shaky (see the Devils taking it in 5 or less), agree with your Buffalo pick, think Pittsburgh's gonna take Ottawa in 5 or less.

Really hope that San Jose can lock that one up in 6 or less, agree with your Chicago and Vancouver assessments, and I think Phoenix/Detroit is a crapshoot.

Go Sharks!

I'll give my predictions

EAST
Washington vs. Montreal: Capitals will take this one in 5. Montreal doesn't stand much of a chance.
New Jersey vs. Philadelphia: Devils in 5. With Emery & Leighton injured, the Flyers' goaltending is very weak.
Buffalo vs. Boston: Sabres in 5. Miller is going to carry the Sabres in this one. Plus, Boston's offense hasn't been as good this season as last season.
Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa: Penguins in 7. Ottawa has been good lately and will really test the Penguins.

WEST
San Jose vs. Colorado: Sharks in 5. Avalanche have struggled a bit lately and San Jose has been playing decent of late.
Chicago vs. Nashville: Blackhawks in 6. Chicago has shaky goaltending, but should be able to get past the Predators.
Vancouver vs. Los Angeles: Canucks in 6. Luongo has struggled a bit lately, but the Canucks have a lot of talent on offense in the Sedin twins, Kesler, Burrows, and Samuelsson. LA won't be able to keep up.
Phoenix vs. Detroit: Red Wings in 6. Detroit has been one of the hottest teams in the NHL since the Olympics ended and should ride their recent success into the playoffs. The Coyotes have really good as well and will really test Detroit.

Good predictions here TheWiz!

Here's mine, for entertainment only !

WEST
Phoenix VS Detroit : Detroit struggled through the first part of the season, but proved in the second part that they're still a powerful organization. They still have all their awesome playoffs players, so Detroit in 5.

Vancouver VS Los Angeles: Toughness might play a role in the series, especially in first round, but Vancouver's offensive is just too much to handle for LA. Canucks will win every home games, and win the series in 5.

Chicago VS Nashville: Chicago is the hot young gun team of the year, the playoff is their game. They'll crush with no problem a team like the Preds. Chicago in 4!

San Jose VS Colorado: San Jose throned the Western Conference for a few years, and always proved to be inconsistent in the playoffs. This will be a long series for sure, but let's say San Jose in 6.

EAST
Pittsburgh VS Ottawa: With the lost of Kovalev, the Senators powerplay and overall depth just sank. The former champions will beat them easily in 5.

Buffalo VS Boston: This will probably be a very interesting series. Buffalo had significant problems playing against the Bruins lately, and these Division rivals know each other pretty well. Boston in 7.

New Jersey VS Philadelphia: Brodeur missed his opportunity to represent his country in the Winter Olympics as the first Goaltender, but won't miss his chance to shine again in playoffs. The powerful attackers  of Philadelphia will lack of space and luck, New Jersey will play a typical secure, patient playoffs style, and guys like Parise & Kovalchuk won't miss a chance to the net when they'll have it. New Jersey in 6.

Montreal VS Washington: If there has to be a "Cendrillon" team this year, this could be the Habs. But with their bad season end, chances are thin. Washington could toss them pretty quickly, or the series could be a back and forth win sequence for each teams. Since I'm a Habs fan, I got to make two prediction here:

Reality
Washington in 4!

Dream
Montreal in 7!!!

Naw, they might make the East final, but they won't win the cup. They have the league's best record because they beat the shit out of the league's weakest conference. Three Western Conference teams had records good enough to place them in the playoffs ahead of the bottom two teams in the Eastern Conference's playoff bracket. Against a Western Conference team, they're gonna get raped. Against Western teams they're all of 10-5-3, which means they're barely over .500 (OTL is meaningless in the playoffs). Keeping in mind that they raped teams like Edmonton (who hasn't), and were dead even with teams like San Jose (1-1, with 6 GF and 6 GA in two games), Detroit (1-1, with 5 GF and 5 GA in 2 games), barely beating Chicago (4-3) in their single game, and losing to Vancouver (3-2) in their single game. Not to mention being 1-0-1 against lowly Columbus, and having 7 GF and 7 GA against them in their two outings. I just don't see them winning against the West in a drawn out series.

ya chicago has had shaddy goaltending, but that is after the olympic break,,, Nemi is a good goalie,,, they have won 7 in a row with him right now after the lost last night againest the Detroit. I think are goaltending is good right now, not the best but when Nemi is on his game nothing is gonna get past him and with the help of the defence helping him out i really think hawks are gonna make it to the cup this year and get pwned by washington in the cup hahaha, im a huge hawks fan but washington is gonna win it all and even tho im wanting to hawks to win, washington is gonna win it all
