Hey best friends.

I'm sure there has been deep discussion about the topic already, but I am wondering what might be the word on the best retro TV? Specifically: a TV preferably between 15-30 inch, best suiting the needs of the NES/SNES and Sega Genesis. Further, does anyone have one that I could buy from them?

These will help, and there are Plenty more threads to root through too. I'm personally partial to the Commodore 1702 monitor.  I just got the right cables to run my s-video cables for the SNES/N64/GC into a chroma/luma signal for this guy and it's insane!  Regular composite is still stunning on this tube.  Best most affordable monitor/tv for retro gaming period in my opinion (if you can find it locally!)  EDIT: AND it's light weight, easy to carry, and built like a tank!

Loads of people love the Sony Trinitrons, which come in two sizes. I think 32" and....22"? My tube tv is just some crappy Samsung we've had for forever and it works just fine.

Also, happy birthday!

Well then you're already rolling with the king! I've obviously heard broadcast monitors by Sony are fantastic but are crazy expensive and hard to come by.  In my opinion is that every tube I've seen in person pales in comparison to the 1702.

Although I'm satisfied with my Philips CRTs (and recently I got a Trinitron for free when I picked up a PSX lot) I got myself a B&O Beovision MX7000 yesterday for €10,-.

I've heard great things about it so I'm curious to try it out. First I have to get it ouf of my car because it weighs a lot.
I especially like the fact that it has two SCART porst which both support RGB (the Trinitron also has two ports but only the first has RGB support) plus a S-Video port.

This topic has been discussed many times over the years and it always comes back to Sony Trinitron. There are numerous models and sizes. The one I love the most is a 27", not too big, not too small. If you want to get into further logistics, newer models had WEGA, additional inputs. I have seen Trinitron's as small as 19" (or smaller) and as big as 40" (300 pounds). I own a 27", 32", and 35" and the 35" is just TOO BIG to appreciate. I also own an NEC CRT from 1987, but the picture is actually not as good as a Trinitron, and the sound is also not as good. I am also certain other CRT's from 2000-2006 would output decent pic/audio for older consoles. Surely, if you want to talk about the BEST, you could throw in higher end NEC monitors or other extremely RARE and COSTLY monitors that are just about impossible to find, so sticking to the average man, I say Sony Trinitron.

I suggest comparing high end models from the early 2000's on paper (top 10 tvs of year 200x, archived internet reviews like cnet) and in the field (enthusiast forums and archived posts of your same question albeit circa early 2000's).

You also gotta know what specs to look for/are desirable (like triple-comb filtering).

I use a Seiki 40 inch flatscreen.

I don't know why, but my SNES looks like gold on it. I haven't tried it with my NES yet though. Also, I doubt a light gun would work with it.

I despise CRTs for their size. If I was living in a more permanent place, I'd probably get one.

Do rear projection TVs work well?

In my experience, they are actually quite common and cheap.

Just got this beast today for free! 32 inch Sharp! The picture is definitely better than my old crt, but I may need to mess with the settings a little.

Here's my old 27 inch Philips. Don't think the new one will fit in this stand but I'll probably end up keepin both. Just gotta find a new stand.
