While that's true...it'd be really nice to know which one it is.

I'm pretty sure if someone took a microscope to it you can find traces of ink and figure out the number.

Oh they tried that already. Search the digital press forums. They magnified the spot where the serial number would be and made guesses.

Looks like it has a legit bid now, and the other idiot got NARU'd. Can't wait to see what it ends for.

This is easy, you take the Scrabble values of the letters in Mario, and add them up:

It's number 7.

I think you're on to something...

M = 13th letter of the Alphabet
A = 1st letter of the Alphabet
R = 18th letter of the Alphabet
I = 9th letter of the Alphabet
O = 15th letter of the Alphabet

13 + 1 + 18 + 9 + 15 = 56.

This NWC = #0056

Seriously man?  I thought you knew better...

Mario games scroll from left to right, so the number is #5600.  Rookie...

On a serious note, what sort of connections does Muresan have?  Some awesome advertising for this item all over the web, I'm personally jealous.

If this sale blows up with all of the additional foot traffic, I'm gonna have to ask for your secrets and sell mine!

No doubt!  NWC's show up on ebay pretty regularly.  I was wondering why this one is getting so much press.

Never.  I mean look at the Zelda Proto cart.  Butt ugly.  VGA 10 Mario, "Mario" NWC and Zelda Proto.  All ugly, but all awesome!

I don't like bumping this up every half hour, but what the hell is going on with the bidding? Many different bidders, fairly high feedback on all, and it's over $12k? Even if the top bid isn't legit, there has to be some real bids in there, no?

This is probably the most interesting auction I've followed in like a year.

It's Internet famous now!

Soon every member on NA will get asked questions about its rarity by local TV. Then we will all (as collectors) become famous by association. Before you know it jets and limos will be chartered....hookers and blow.....salacious decadence. Then the rehab and book deals.....

Wait....nevermind, I'm getting ahead of myself.

I haven't checked which news sites have caught up on this now, but it's getting heavy exposure as it jumped from around 2700 watchers (!) a few hours ago to over 3700 watchers right now.

I don't believe those bids at all. Reminds me of that Blockbuster cart getting bid up to silly amounts.
