I recently stumbled upon Obitus for the first time. What a weird, weird game.

Well, it's for SNES, released in North America in 1991 by Bullet-Proof Software.

The game has 2 different gameplay formats. The first is a first person mode and the second is a odd side scrolling with the ability to also walk up and down, as in towards the background depth.

Basically, this is a medieval style adventure game and it can get very confusing. Either consulting a walkthrough or designing your own map is going to be required. I can't recall Nintendo Power ever covering this one.
