and does bimmy participate ever?
I have some inside information that he recently did a perfect run through Mike Tyson's Punch Out!! Even though he is the Game Master, does he come out from behind the curtain from time to time?

Bimmy used to play regularly in the contest, and I was beating the crap out of him all the time Seriously, he is a very talented player, who knows, he might even make a comeback in the competition at some point and prove it with awesome scores.

Yeah,he's a talented gamer although he is horrible at the Double Dragon games. I mean HORRIBLE! He can't even get past the first level.

I heard he only passed the first Williams guys twice in his entire life.

That's funny I'm saying this, cause when I was young (really young, 3 years old), Double Dragon was one of the first game we had for NES, and I remember that the first time I've been able to beat those Williams my Big Bro was all proud of me, lol.

I'm glad you like the contest award icons. I enjoy making them, so I really appreciate your positive feedback

When you posted your original score in Legendary Wings last week (which was really good) - and said you avoided the Danger Zones, I thought for sure you were going to post the best score later in the week.

You guys pulled some great scores early on. I wanted to figure out how to point-rack, but unfortunately I was traveling last week and didn't have much time, LUCKY FOR YOU!!
Seriously, though, I'm not a threat. I'm going to have boot and hoof marks all over me by the time this half is over!

There are tons of good players on here, and some of them only stop by for certain games they are good at, which keeps it interesting. Keep that Naughty List handy!

arch_8ngel's (defending Puzzle Champion) Qix score last half was inhuman. (Yes I was lurking) Although he didn't participate in Legendary Wings.
Ballon_Kid is the upstart this half with a commanding lead after only 2 weeks.
EgasKrad's Duck Tales score was tops week 1. This was the best score among a group of some of the best recorded scores ever.
CLAYB1RD will be tough to top as he seems to be near the top every week. Consistency wins championships.
...There are 4 others..
If anyone wants me to post my "Top 10" List (it changes every week) I'll do so, but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings either.
It's just a stupid thing to do.

So many good players here though.

Been busy this week so I haven't been around here much.

I was humbled after Duck Tales week and feel even more so after seeing this, just to have my name mentioned with some of the best gamers I've ever seen.  I got lucky that it was a game I knew very well and a week I had time during.  Otherwise, I only had one other top five since I started.  Anyway, I thought I'd never say this, but I feel honored to be on Santa's Naughty List!

Since I'm going to be missing some major time, I'm going to try to focus on the platformers and those standing for this half since I topped Duck Tales.  I'll still be posting scores for other games, like I'll be posting one for Puzznic during the weekend, but I've been playing more Rainbow Islands than that when I have had any free time.  It's not that I'm sandbagging, it's just I'm really limited right now for time.  That and some scores or future scores seem to be pretty unreal again this week.

Santa's Naughty List
(Projected Top 10 Scorers this week)

1. arnpoly: Heavy hitter in the puzzle department in 1st half. Is taking notes and has noted big progress thus far. My favorite to win this week.

2. khog143: Has posted a few updates on straight run throughs so far. I cannot match his projected numbers... yet.

3. Ballon_Kid: Highly skilled in multiple genres, he is the current second half leader (with 21 points!) Don't know about his puzzle skills, but I expect a strong showing.

4. CLAYB1RD: Nearly on par with Ballon_Kid's skills, CLAYB1RD currently stands alone in second place behind his rival. Can he top Balloon_Kid this week?

5. EgasKrad: Showed superior patience and expertice when he blew up the Duck Tales score week 1. Puzznic is a game right up his alley of skill sets, although he has mentioned time this week is at a premium.

6. gutsman004: Always in the hunt for the title, gutsman004 is pretty much a contender every week. Guts is the defending champ in several categories from the first half. He is currently recovering from a hand injury that might effect performance.

7. BilltownSparty: BSparty is currently in a 3-way tie in the overall rankings for 3rd Place in the second half with EgasKrad and khog143. Posted a 7th place finish week 1 and a 5th place finish last week.

8. Czar5: Czar is currently tied for 6th place in the overall standings, although they have not posted a screenshot of any of heir scores yet. Posted a big time score for Duck Tales week 1.

9. ookii_risu: The Weekly Contest Queen always seems to post solid scores to get in the top 10 every week. I expect her to do the same this week.

10. Velinos: Had a 9th place finish week 1 and posted a vanilla score week 2, but seemed disenchanted by Legendary Wings. I expect to see him back in the top 10 this week.

TheDuffy5 and BriGuy82 are also in the mix, but both seem to be ready for week 4 already.

Will guillavoie, arch_8ngel, bimmy or a mystery person crash the party even though they said they were sitting out?
Perhaps jump_man95, NESMASTER14, mattbep, bencoffeehall or fatalfuryspecial will post a score in the 11th hour to sky rocket to the top this week?

It's anyone's guess, but these are my picks for Week 3: Puzznic

What is this "Double Dragon" you speak of?   Here is my best ever Double Dragon 2 score, good enough for 3rd place on Twin Galaxies (I missed 2nd place by 30 points!  ARRRRRGGGH!)

That is all she wrote for me, more than likely.  Hopefully it is good enough, but I get the feeling arnpoly will trump it.  This is the kind of puzzle game that I am good at, since you have more time to think about your moves than something like Tetris, especially if you take notes and use those to help on your playthrough.

Dayum, now that's dedication. Good job, khog!

Just one thing, though. I thought we need to have our usernames on a piece of paper in front of the screen for the submission to be valid. I know there have been issues with this in the past... Bimmy, can you confirm?

I looked at the rules, and it just says you have to take a picture of the screen with your user name in the picture, so hopefully that will end up being fine.

I will let it slide this week with using notepad when playing with an emulator, but starting next week, this will NOT be allowed. Everyone who plays on an emulator starting with the Trog contest must have their username written on a piece of paper for the score to be valid.

Great, thanks bimmy. You may want to change the rules thread stating that the username in the picture must be written on a piece of paper. All it says right now is that it must be in the picture.

I am pretty sure there were numerous games last season where an obvious user name as the high score initials or on-screen for a PC was sufficient.

It just had to be a photo, not a screenshot.

Alas, this contest is nearing its end
But please do not fret my friend.
If a different challenge is what you seek,
Then check out the new game for this week.
I assure you the new contest will not be a bore,
In fact, I think it might be a game you will adore.
So, when all of your Puzznic playing is done,
Come play Trog and you will surely have some fun.

Here's the best I could muster:

Level 3-10, Score: 224,600

My stupid digital camera didn't snap the first picture I took, I almost missed my chance with the countdown reaching to 0.

I was getting to 4-10 w/ continues, but I couldn't get past 3-10 w/o screw ups. I always seem to mess up the timing at least once on every attempt at 3-2. I also goofed up on 3-8 on this run, so I had a feeling I wouldn't make it to level 4. Also, I'm curious what stage was the biggest hurdle for some of you guys?

For me, it was 3-6. It's actually really simple looking back at it now, but I had a hell of a time trying to figure out how to dispatch the 3 blue squares. So simple and obvious once it clicked, but man, I was frustrated.

yes, I know its in reverse and looks like crap. But I couldn't get either of my cameras to connect to my pc like they usually do. Eventually, I just gave up, and took a picture of my computer screen with another computer. And then was finally able to post a score thats nothing to look at in the first place! LOL!

I apologize about the blurriness but I had to scramble to get my picture taken in time. I was frustrated because I did figure out the level I went out on but I screwed up on it with 10 seconds to go and didn't have time to restart.

I wish I played this game earlier since Santa was right in his Naughty List, it was up my alley! I love logic puzzles so I really liked this game. Though I will admit, during my final run I was listening to my iPod. I couldn't take the music of this game anymore.

Also, congrats khog. That's an insane score.
