Those secret treasures aren't going to help you much, not if you want massive points, sure they're fun to find/get, and they offer a thousand or more points, but its small money compared to what you can get if you just skip those and go for the big earnings.
Okay, still have one more vid to upload, but since that last one is just me finishing up the game (having 2 deaths), going to go ahead a post what I have so far, which is levels 1-5 and part of level 6 up til I lose my first life. Levels 1-5 show how to rack up serious points, well didn't do so well in levels 1 and 2, had trouble with getting the zombies and medusa heads in those areas to cooperate, but it does give you an idea of what to do. Level 3-5 went a lot better, with some good point racking off of medusa heads and a skeleton near the end of level 3, eagles and hunchbacks in level 4, and red skeletons in level 5. I rolled the score in level 5 then moved on to finish it. Level 6, I never try to point rack, way too dangerous just trying to get through it alive, and I failed this time to beat it without dying, damn stop watch didn't react when I needed it to, hunchback dropped my ass. Then I spend a bit of time rambling before deciding, lets go ahead and finish it up since I'm already here, which is in the last video clip.
Level 1
Level 2
Level 3
Level 4
Level 5
Level 6 (up til I die)
Level 6 (finished up game)
Oops, did it again.
But this time I not only managed to roll an even higher score, but also beat it without dying in the same game. Sweet playthru on this one. Still room for improvement though. I figure if I were to play everything out as perfectly as possible I could probably gain another 300,000 points, but perfection is not easily achieved, zombies aren't always going to come at you the way you need them to, and timing will always be off once in a while against medusa heads. When I get the chance I certainly want to upload the vid for this playthru, but in the meantime going to take a break from it, give you guys a chance to catch up. And sorry, again I forgot to pause before the score rolled, oh well, accept it or not, I can always do it again if need be.
Score upon beating game without dying, rolled score + 229,700

Awesome score MrMiniMog! You are in the lead! Not sure if I'm going to be able to have time to counter it, gotta work today.
Well, looks like victory is yours, unless someone else tops you. I was able to play a few games of it, best I pulled off was a little over 800,000 by the time I reached level 4, but something screwy happened, two bats coming at me at once when I jumped across to the second floating platform, the first I jumped over, the second bat drowned me. Boy was I pissed, that was probably the most perfect I was going to be able to play. If I had reached level 5 with what I would've had at the end of level 4, my score would've most likely well exceeded my previous top score. Not sure if I'll be able to play tonight after work, may not have time but for one game if any at all.
Man, I wish I had seen this contest earlier; I don't have time for any practice, and I haven't played Castlevania 1 (or any NES Castlevania, actually) in a few years. Didn't do too badly, but it is still embarressing to lose to the mummies. Ah well.

Really bad friggin' day at work, one of the worst since I've worked there. Then I come home, still tense and pissed off and have about an hour and a half to pull off something great, instead I grab an axe, f'ed it all up. Now, too late, just not enough time to try again. So be it. Oh wait, on top of my recent failures at this, I realized that I recorded over my no death rolled score game, well now, that was a waste. Will just have to do it again another time when time isn't pressuring me. Glad this game was in the contest again, been waiting for it.
