I'd let it run, everyone has to start somewhere, worse case scenario is you file a NPB and sell it to the second highest or re-list it.

Depends on the item really. I'll give anyone a chance, whether I'm buying or selling. But I wouldn't spend $100 or sell a $100 item to someone with zero feedback. If the items $25 and there's an issue then it's not such a big deal. Less risk, so use your best judgement.

This.  If it is a low cost or common item just let him bid.

Is the reason for not selling a high-dollar item to someone with zero feedback because they will try to keep the item and get a refund also? If you ship with a tracking number doesn't eBay pretty much side with the seller automatically?

There are a few different things they could try to pull but commonly they may already have another nonworking one and try to return theirs for a refund.

Non paying buyers is just a part of ebay. I personally don't have a problem with zero feedback members bidding on my stuff. If they don't pay, then just relist it. They may not even win the item, so their bids are jacking up your prices. If you don't want to sell to members with zero or low feedback, I'm pretty sure there is an option when creating the listing that will cancel bids from them. I've never tried it, but I'm pretty sure at least.

The majority of new members who buy stuff from me are fine. That said, roughly half of my nonpayment issues are new members, haha. It's hit or miss, but I like to give them a shot and leave a good impression. It's a reason for them to come back to me, especially if they get shoddy service from someone else after I've set the service bar high

if you messaged the person and the person didn't respond, I'd be worried.
