I was considering getting a copy of the first Fantasy Zone for Famicom.

Trying to keep this up to date as much as possible so it doesn't become a big monster update months in waiting again lol.

My B-wings score is wrong (though it has the right screenshot) and Starship Hector has some Star Force scores accidentally added.  

I'll try to post some other Famicom/NES shooters that I have and haven't played/posted yet.

i keep dying really early into the final level (darius). I'm going to keep at it but only 3 lives makes it tough. Pretty average game. There is soo much repetition in the enemy patterns they keep cycling through

I've always preferred Darius Force/Super Nova over Darius Twin, although neither one is the best that the series had to offer.
 

Nice! Yeah I've got to check out that and Sagaia eventually. I'm pretty new to the Dariuis series. Only played this and Darius Gaiden which is my favorite. Not sure why there wasn't a rapid fire option in DG though. Plays a lot more fun with turbo available on the Saturn virtua stick. G Darius looks really good but haven't played it. Seems like the games were pretty average until Gaiden.
What do you think about the series? Any experience with the PC engine ones?
 

Darius Gaiden is probably the best in the series, although G-Darius isn't bad, either. I personally don't care for the 3-D graphics they tried to incorporate in G-Darius, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

I love the series, but the definitive versions of most of them are the arcade games. Though the Saturn port of Gaiden is about as perfect as you can get.

This game is awesome but very challenging.
Great music and graphics. this last run was the farthest I've made it. I haven't tried the famicom version. To bad the US jumped straight to 3

Lol there's an AGE column in the Gradius 2 scoreboard? First time I've ever seen that!

I also wish this game was released for NES in America. Whoever made the decision not to has no clue. We all love sequels!

Haha yeah that's new to me too. Gradius 3 makes you put in your gender and horoscope!

Changed my initial power-up arrangement and managed to finally take out that damned armored boss in the boss rush of level 5. Level 6 is one of those speed up levels (like level 4 of Life Force) , so this may take a few tries.

Thanks! Yeah I noticed you beat for the Can NA Beat Every NES Game thread the last few years.

The only real drawback is the platforming. If it weren't for the wings, the game would be near impossible to get through. It's a fun little game though for sure, and a good challenge.
