Hello everyone and welcome to the first round of the 2015 NintendoAge Weekly Contest Summer Tournament!  The game for this round will serve up some awesome arcade action with Donkey Kong Jr.  Here are the rules (Participants, please read the rules carefully for your tier to make sure you play by the correct rules.  Failure to play by the correct rules can result in your score being invalid).  Participants, please make sure to include your tier number when you post your score.  It will make it easier to calculate the final results at the conclusion of the contest.  First off, here are the participants:

• 1 life only
• You may use the Donkey Jr. or Donkey Kong Classics cart to play the game
• Highest score wins

 
Tier 2

• 1 player only
• Choose Game A
• Play until Life “0.”  As soon as you get to Life “0,” you must stop playing and take your picture.  You may not play any of the game on Life “0.”  Anyone suspected of playing on Life “0” will have their score disqualified.
• You may use the Donkey Kong Jr. or Donkey Kong Classics cart to play the game
• Highest score wins

 
Tier 3

• 1 player only
• Choose Game A
• Play until Game Over
• To get your score, start a new game.  Your score will be in the “Top Score” spot.
• You may use the Donkey Kong Jr. or Donkey Kong Classics cart to play the game
• Highest score wins

 
 
The contest ends Sunday, 7/12/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

Got past the birds and went to grab the chain but I was just barely too low and fell to my death. Ugh. Had I not made that stupid mistake I would have passed Red and may have passed up Doug in the next couple of screens.

I love DK Jr. Too bad I wasn't anywhere near qualifying for this tourney. Good luck all!

can we play if we are not listed in the tiers? I'm new to the forum

Score updated. I'm going to have to try a different controller. The D pad on my regular one is so worn out, it feels like the circle pad on a NES Max.

The tournaments are invite only, but the second half starts July 26 if you want to join in.

Unfortunately, the tournament is for the people who earned high enough spots on the leaderboard in contests from the first half of the year. So it is too late to compete on this particular game. But make sure you show up in the second half! Check out the games coming up on the main Leaderboard thread that is pinned in Gamers Gauntlet. 

I'll just say that there's nothing wrong with playing along for fun just to see how you stack up. That's what I plan on doing.

So I noticed my score is not posted on the leaderboard. So are emulators banned this week? I haven't been able to get a cart (anyone have an extra one?) and I do not have an ebay account anymore,so if I can't use my laptop I am essentially done.

The rules say you can. Probably missed it by accident.

The rules say you can use a Donkey Kong Jr. or Donkey Kong Classics Cart.  It also says below about if an emulator is used..., but my assumption was no emulators.  Bimmy or guillavoie can chime in with a ruling.

The last paragraph in the OP mentions what to do when using emulators, but it's the same standard text that's on all the contest threads.
