Hello loopy! do you know why some FDS games (like Doki Doki Panic) skip the intro screen so quickly even if I do not press any button.

In those games, the intro screen waits for you to change the disk.  Because Powerpak does automatic disk switching, the intro gets quickly skipped. Holding down the select button will keep the disk "ejected" on powerpak.

I don't suppose there's any chance of The Fox updating the Powermappers to include Mapper 30 so Twin Dragons will be compatible...?

Here you go.

That's the exact mapper file I already have on the PowerPak card.  Save states do not work.

Ok, so Bananmos has updated his Mapper 30 so that it works with the regular unedited ROM of Twin Dragons; it also works with Black Box Challenge! Download link here (you'll want Version 4; scroll down until you find the correct Bananmos post):

Aw, thanks for thinking of me!  Now if only the Fox could make a PowerMapper 30...

And here's where you can download the GTROM mapper, required by some homebrews including The Incident, Scramble, and the upcoming Nescape:

I think it's about time the original post was updated yet again, with Mapper 30 and GTROM Mapper info.

Which mapper specifically is the FDS mapper?  I just want to replace that one mapper.  Thanks!

Loopy, is there a way to update your MMC5 mapper so that the Legend Of Link Zelda hack will work properly on the PowerPak?

"Will this work on…? This game will NOT work on the N8 Everdrive, or PowerPak’s. The N8 Everdrive uses 512kb PRG & CHR-ROM. The author contacted the creator, but he wasn’t interested in creating a revision to his product. PowerPak’s are in the same boat. Loopy’s MMC5 patch works on MMC5 games, but, my work is too large for it to handle."

Not possible. It's not the mapper, that Zelda hack is too large.

It works on a harvested MMC5 board though; is it impossible to fully replicate that using a mapper file then?  Pardon my ignorance!

Look at the requirements for that hack -

  • 1MB PRG-ROM
  • 1MB CHR-ROM
Powerpak has only 512KB of RAM for each (same as Everdrive), a different mapper won't change that.
