I was visiting a town out of state and saw a goodwill so I whipped in there to check it out. It was about 5 minutes until closing time. I was able to get in. An employee was putting out a plain brown box (with about 3 minutes until closing time). I picked up the box and it was a super with all cords and killer instinct for 10 bucks. I asked a lady that works there if there was anymore games to it and she said there was but she helped me look for them for about 5 minutes and swears she saw them but we could not find them. By this time its past closing time so the line to check out has formed. While in line my wife sees 2 young male employees whispering and reaching in behind some stuffed animals acting suspicious but pretending to be straitening out the shelves and stuff. She tells me to go reach in there. And when I do I found 4 complete in the box SNES games. Top gear. Big bass. Mortal combat 3 ultimate and donkey Kong country 3 all complete in the box for 1 dollar each. The look on the male employees face (who had moved on to bagging at the cash register) when he saw I had the games ... was PRICELESS

Nice! I have uncovered many items hidden away at goodwill last game related was a gameboy color and a gba I went to pay for them and the lady behind the counter started asking questions where I found those and I flat out told her I found them hidden away, and I smilled...but she wasn't smiling back and blew as she rang them up. Made my day.

Have friend or family member come buy it or steal it after hours.

Is there a policy at goodwill that items have to be brought to the floor before employees can purchase them?

Yeah seriously. At the GW near me, the employees can only buy stuff at designated times too. They can't go shopping before or after any old shift. I've had the staff say to be more than once, "damn I was gna get that".

It depends on who is running the store.
I did community service at a Goodwill that got closed down and all of the employees (and community service people) had their own little piles back by the donations and then another employee would come over and price everything at the end of the day

There are about 2 Goodwills close to me that still have video games that I frequent. The vast majority of the ones around indianapolis sell their video games online. I stopped going by their stores years ago.

I would have asked him where the rest of them were right in front of the cashier and everyone.

such a bum wrap, video game collecting in washington is extremely difficult unless you camp craigslist 24/7 and even then boxed games come up once in a blue moon and people want a TON for them. SO SAD

no nintendo game(s) ever .... i go in there all the time and they give me the same story, "what we have, is on the floor"

but when i look thru the double doors, clothes to the ceiling and electronics n book everywhere ....

i cant make out hardly anything because most of it is junk that needs to be sorted thru tho ...

Good eye on the little lady, and that serves them right for trying to pull the $1 hide and snatch. You probably should have asked them very loudly if they were hiding more stuff under stuffed animals with a $1 price tag to get later on like a sneak.

Good for you, enjoy your games as they got what they had coming to them -- nothing.

All the goodwills I have been so have nothing but PS1 sports games, or Genesis sports games. I dont even waste my time there anymore. The only other decent thrift store in town, Savers overprices everything. I literally went in there the other day and saw a Double Dribble for $11.99. I have also seen Mega Man loose for $79.99 and SMB2 for $59.99.

Awesome! I've always wondered if thrift stores near me do the same thing. Hardly see anything and then one day they'll put out 8-10 games at a time. They either keep a bunch in the back until they put them out or the person who normally grabs them might be off that day.

We have 2 here one on each side of town. Weird thing is one seems to put their games online and the other does not I would think they both would, but I occasionally come across games at one of them although its mostly only PS2 games I'll find the rare Genesis game here and there.

Savers sounds like Buy Backs over the river in Indiana and they're just awful. Anything cartridge based they'll look for the highest asking amazon or insanely overpaid BIN paid on ebay to price stuff. I don't go there.

This is how it is at the OKC Goodwill stores. They have maybe 2 days a month (randomly picked by the corporate office) the employees are allowed to shop.

Damn, I can stop at 4 GWs on my way home from work. I have found NES/SNES/N64 games at each location but I know which ones I have a better chance at. Ill be pissed if any of them go to online sales, everything sells off the shelf good enough.
