Updated my score just to make it harder for you to win this week!

I thought that I heard thunder outside, but it was probably just poor guts banging his head against his keyboard after seeing your new score.

Ha! That score is beatable. The problem is actually doing it. Not sure what my final score would be had I beaten it on my best run,but it would probably be close. Don't remember how many points you get for beating the bosses in the final stages and Air Marshal but if it's 5k,then definitely would've been right there.

Oh yeah this score is definitely beatable and you are quite close to it!  I'm not playing it anymore so it's yours for the taking.

Lol,I'll try my best. No promises. If I can cut down on the careless deaths I should be able to take a serious crack at your score. Either way, this was the perfect game to end the first half. What a fun game! Tough, but fun.

And even if I do top your score, balloon kid, red, bert, and others are out there lurking....perhaps waiting to post something ridiculous.

I am so fricking happy right now. I believe that puts me in first place.
Here's a video to go along with my score for verification. It fades in and out at one point as my camcorder shut off

Here's the video link

Good job beating it! I had two first place runs going, both derailed by the stupid salvage chute stage. The unforgivingness of this game really annoys me at times and often if I die in an area multiple times it really aggravates me to the point where I start getting sloppy and in turn makes me lose more lives and further aggravates me.

Ugh,whatever. If I can finally complete one of these good runs I'm pretty certain that I can put up a sub 100k run. On my last failed run I had around 55k at the beginning of the cell stage. I think you still get 5k for the bosses for the cell, chute, and tanker stages but you only get 1k for beating Air Marshal. Weird. I'll try again later today at some point.

I enjoyed some of this game, but so much of it seemed tedious. Favorite part of the game was the Escape!

Nice job arnpoly at getting the low score. gutsman, you gonna pull out the win?

Fun game but it can get really frustrating. The last couple of days have been filled with good runs gone to waste. I've beaten it a few times but all with continues.

There are just certain parts of the game where you can easily lose a life (or several) and if I do I get really irritated and start making more mistakes and then it's reset time. That's pretty much all I've done today....die cheaply, reset, repeat.

Probably being too hard on myself, but I absolutely refuse to lose any lives before the toad mothership. If I do....reset.

I may have time to play Sunday afternoon, but probably not a lot. We'll see. I really like this game a lot,but man it can annoy the crap out of you.

EDIT: I think I'm just going to call it good for this week. I didn't even play any after I originally posted this. It would be nice to get a win this week, but with the tournament coming up I'll save my energy for that instead.

Plus I need to do some housework as well as try to cheer up a good friend who's about to go through a divorce. May go over and play some PS2 with him. Anyway,I'm rambling. See everyone in the tourney!

Going to try and lower this score today for kicks. I love this game, and you can tell it was directed by the founder of Treasure, M. Maegawa, even before the credits. The variety of challenges throughout the game is quite impressive for a 1991 console game.

EDIT:  I think I could have gotten an even lower score.  I remember collecting one of those 3,000 pt. medallions that you uncover on the blue planet by accident.

Nice job.  I was going to try to beat you in the main leaderboard, but that seems unlikely now.  I'm still going for first place for this week though.

This is one of those games that makes me want to throw it on the ground then jump up and down stomping it with both feet. 😤😖

The trail and error method frustrates me to no end, seems like you have to already know this game. I should have started playing this one on Monday 😋

Yes, there are a lot of trial and error sections in this game that you want to memorize for a better playthrough of the game.  The crusher section during the Salave Shute stage still gives me problems.  I actually didn't have much time to practice this week, nor will I have much time in the upcoming months.  Bought a house so my attentions focused on that outside of work instead of good old video games.

This game was really starting to piss me off, frustrating when jumping and getting hit by shit.  Here's my pitiful progress, Green Planet, Act 6.

After seeing yet another person complete this game,I decided to give it another try. I knew I could beat it and post a good score and I finally did it. I even recorded it and will try to load it up on youtube in a few minutes. It's not the sub 100k score I was shooting for (too many mistakes) but I'll take it.

116,800 (Game Completed!)

Yeah, I found out quickly that patience is the only way to get through this game.  Some parts you can just haul ass, but much of it, you have to go slow.  I'm sure speed runners figured it out, but there's a lot of places where you have to just stand there a few seconds.

That was my main problem, that I was trying to speed run it. Once I made myself slow down a little in certain spots I was able to cut down on my mistakes.

Ugh,looks like my recording wasn't recorded after all. I don't get it. I use Nestopia and I created a movie player file and then hit record but yet my run is not anywhere to be found and the run that I thought was it is some sort of weird 3 minute file. Maybe I accidently recorded over it? This really aggravates me. Arrgh.

EDIT: Just noticed that balloon kid posted a sub 85k score 6 minutes after I posted my score. There goes that potential victory out the window.

Yeah, halfway through the game and my score is already higher than Balloon_Kid's, so I'm gonna go ahead and mercy kill my run. GG folks! If you guys ever play Ninja Gaiden 1 I'll be there, I can pacifist run that game so getting a low score would be no problem.
