Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week's game is going to be Side Pocket.  Here are the rules:

• Choose 1 Player Pocket Game
• Play until Game Over.  Take your picture on the Game Over screen (be quick, it doesn't stay up long).
• If you beat the game, take your picture upon making the final trick shot (be quick with the picture).
• Highest score wins
• Participation: 3,100
• GENRE: Sports

The contest ends Sunday, 9/24/17 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

There isn't anything in the rules about that, so I assume that a higher non-winning score trumps a lower winning score.

Update 2: And the next game went over 20K!
Update: Now at 11K!

I got 4000 in several tries early this morning.

It seems impossible now, but I'll keep at it and probably end up being decent at it by the end of the week.

I beat the game with 25700. I took notes last year on a sequence of shots that lets me win within a few tries, so I guess I can post them after the contest is over. I also mapped out the first 3 trick shots if anyone's curious. My best advice is left and right are your friends, the super ball generally results in bad results, and going for the zone is only worthwhile if you're dicked on balls.

I'm not going to try to do any better. I never figured out how to tackle the 10-ball table, and always crap out if I am forced to play it. The music in this game rocks, BTW.

It took the Mexican Runner 8 hours to beat this game and he practiced with save states. So yeah.

Bea will use her math skills to get a ridiculous score just as she did with Lunar Pool. (That game was so much easier.)

I already have pretty much all of the tricky shots mapped, but I will only be able to put together a full run Wednesday or Thursday this time.

I need to put a run together on this thing tonight, but I feel like messing Genesis development instead.

I'm gonna let you all in on a little secret. The way to get a high score in this game is to be good enough to move from one rack to the next, but bad enough to fail the requirements to proceed to the next class.

If you wanna beat the game, Daniel's advice seems spot on. For grinding out points, I think you wanna do the opposite. Go for the extra ball as often as the shot is reasonable, and take advantage of the Super Ball to make space on the table. Hitting the balls in sequence doesn't matter if you are trying to avoid meeting the mark for the next class.

Anyway, just my observations as a newbie!

Question... how many times can I fail the trick shot as U.S.A champion to remain there, gathering a ridiculous amount of points?
I am at stage 7 with 50,600 points right now, still U.S.A. champion.

Please, amend the rules so that if you fail the trick shot after becoming U.S.A. champion, your run ends.
Otherwise people can go for a long, long, LOOOOONG time looping the U.S.A champion stage.
Specially because again, the physics here have no RNG other than the powerbar, so if you count ticks, you can do the same shots every time.
