Yeah that's a great idea, but even better was skulls. Use his return mail address to call his police dept and tell them he's trafficking in stolen and pirated goods using mail fraud and bully tactics over email to defraud both you, the post office, and if the other person exists another local customer in his area. Point out his entire argument is that it works, but hell yeah pirate bootlegs work but they're still bootlegs. Seriously, do it.

I'm not surprised because the guy that sold the fake Stadium Events is obviously a liar and douchebag reseller that wants to make a profit off a PAL edition stadium events which he probably bought for maybe a 5th of what he paid for. Even though, $250 is not as bad as the whole "Stadium Events is $10,000 game" fiasco that happen like almost a year ago, I would still get my money back, and give the seller a negative BIG TIME!!

Man sounds like a mess, it will be interesting to see what ebay says. By the way, loved retronauts, I was sorry to see it's no longer a podcast. I'm listening to the back catalog right now since I didn't start listening until episode 60. Welcome to the forums.

Good news, everyone! eBay just got back to me and sent me a prepaid shipping label to send the game back. Once the tracking shows that the item has been delivered, I'll get my money back.

I think I'll write our friend a helpful letter explaining to him why he should throw this thing away and never try to sell it again.

^ You'd be wasting your time (with the letter) -- at that price, and with such a weird and recent item as a repro SE, you can rest assured he knew exactly what he was doing and was just looking to pull a fast one on somebody.

Maybe I'll look up all the various laws he broke and the maximum sentences and list them.

I still think you should do what I said and get his local police involved. Also, since he intends to resell it, make some posts up on craigslist, kijiji and anything else people use to sell online over in his district for those sites and give out his name and proof he's selling bootleg goods with the intent to defraud. That'll make his day.

Pull out the board, replace with SMB.  Tracking still shows it got there!

Hah wow that would be so cold, and he'd have zero proof of it unless he's got a picture of the game opened up with the exact rom board powered up in a top loader or something. Even then that would be disputable.

I think there is some kind of form you can fill out if a buyer sends you a different item, I am not sure where disputes go from there but it is possible that you could screw yourself this way.

The seller of this sent me a super high resolution shot of the picture of the real stadium events from the first post. Any idea where he got it from cause it obviously isn't his.

I also asked him to send a picture of the chip but all he sent was the photo of the front and didn't mention the chip after that.

I was going to say that he should piss on it or break it in half. There would be no way to prove that the seller didn't do it himself, after the package arrived.

What a douchebag seller! I have a feeling buying fakes will become a routine in our hobby from now on.

Shipped this out -- fully intact, thank you -- just now. Let's see how long it takes eBay to hit me back with my hard-earned money.

Also, I believe it is negative feedback time.

Also, since I posted negative feedback, the seller pulled all of his auctions off eBay and set his feedback display to Private. I'm sure this is just temporary and he'll be back to sell another day, but it does feel good to shut him down for a while.

I usually save a negative feedback until you have your refund. He might just get pissed off and say he never received the package.

Out of his hands. eBay sent a shipping label and they will refund my money as soon as the tracking number shows that delivery has been made.

I don't know why they are trying to fight it, they have to know your going to end up winning anyway, and even possibly keeping the fake they sent you.

Check out this really awesome WTB thread that I found, I heard this guy wants games at the cheapest rate possible!  Now on the look out for Unlicensed NES!

Post the negative feedback comments I need a good laugh. I am one of the most ethical people you will ever meet, but I agree with Brian, you should swapped that fucking board with Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde to teach that seller a lesson!

Even funnier, when you click his "me" page, it still shows you his recent feedback, complete with your neg!
