That is a good mindset to go into the game with.....if I take a few stupid deaths on the first 3-4 levels I reset.

I got 46k points, died at stage 1-9. Didn't take a picture because it's a hassle for me at the moment

I've played this game before, but not a lot. I learned a lot from just messing around for an hour or so. I noticed the game gets faster on each new level, but is it any slower when you get to a new round?

This game gets too hectic for me by about stage 4. My brain can barely react fast enough to all the shapes that keep pouring in.

The best I've done on stage 1 is about 15k points.  Around that time and it's too fast.  But I usually enter stage 2 with like 10k points.  
I've just been making the biggest rows I can and trying to be smart about it.  Keep getting too greedy though.  Combining multiple Yoshi cookies in a row gives a lot of points too

I would play Yoshi's Cookie for 100 hours before I'd turn on Legendary Wings for 10 minutes, but in a shooter/beat em up crowd, I'm in the minority.  Man, I wish I was good at shooters...

Anyway, I feel like this game is more luck based than Tetris, but that could be just because I don't fully get it yet.

I'm still trying to beat Legendary Wings. I can pretty much breeze through the first three levels. Still having major difficulty with the fourth. I'm not very good at shooters either, but for some reason it's the genre that I'm doing best at on the leader boards.

I think that Yoshi's Cookie is just an asshole sometimes. I was doing well on my last run so the game decided to make me lose by not giving me enough matches to complete the round as the cookies kept coming faster and faster and piling up.

Good stuff!  I want to see what you can with this game!

This was my strategy when playing on low speed last time, but it's much tighter on high speed in regards to churning out points.  I didn't have any luck chaining Yoshi cookies in my run either.

To answer your original question, I do believe the game slows back down at the start of a new round, i.e. 2-1 is slower than 1-10.  The speed ramps up quicker as you go so there is some risk in trying to stretch your score with the same technique past the first round.

Ok, well let me turn beating this back into easy mode for you:

After the mouth you'll start the section where you're moving through a canyon of sorts.  After you pass by the section where the pink enemies scroll by you there will be two pink tubes somewhat close to each other.  The lucky is between those two tubes.  You can't see it but you'll need to hit it with a ground bomb to trigger the whirlwhind.  Watch out though; an enemy will fly across and try to nail you, and if you get hit you'll miss the whirlwhind.

So you need to shoot that enemy before it gets its projectile launched at you, and hit the ground with the bomb.

Oh yea that makes a huge difference...have you made it to the rat race stage yet on Battletoads?

That one is going to piss you off dude trust me.....there is a glitch that happens that forces you to reset your game.

No, I did one attempt yesterday. Got to level 8 on the first credit easily enough, but I had a complete meltdown there. No excuse for most of the deaths. And I got to the boss a few times but got owned. Didn't really get any chance to develop a pattern or study him.

I can only get to stage 8 by warping past Volkmire's, but I can beat it. One tip for beating the boss is that the left side of the screen is a safe zone. You can take your time and wait there for an opening to attack.

Oh, and there is a stick weapon you can grab and use to destroy the fans and gas blowers.
