We're all out here enjoying our new Switch consoles, so hey why not see if we can beat and document all of the games as they are released?

I will be basically stealing info for the list from the Nintendo Switch Collectors Discussion Thread so due credit to AC Skywalker for all the hard work keeping the list up to date!

Here I will list out each game as beaten/unbeaten, and in the next post I will list out the beaten games. In the third post I will list out requirements to beat each game that doesn't have an obvious ending.

Since this is the first year doing the Switch, each game will be worth 1 point. Let's aim for beating every single game on this currently small list, and then each of them as they come out! 

One thing different from the other threads - I'm going to ask that all "entries" include a photo or screenshot. The Switch has a button dedicated to taking screenshots, so IMO there should be no reason NOT to take a photo for proof (and fun!). If this is disagreeable feel free to voice your concerns and we can all talk it out in a civil manner!


Rules
 

• When you beat a game, post in this thread! Please include a photo or screenshot (use the Switch screenshot button!). 
• Only games you started in 2018 count
• If a game has no ending and simply keeps looping, we'll call if "beaten" when you have crossed the loop
• If a game has no ending and either keeps looping or never ends (infinite levels, or games like pinball), but has a high score feature, beat the high score
• Play on whatever difficulty you are comfortable with when difficulties are present, unless there is a difficulty requirement to see the ending, in which case play on at least that difficulty level
• If you beat a digital copy of a game that has an announced physical release, you can submit the game, just make sure to let me know that this is the case!

If it's not on the "Beaten" list, it's "Unbeaten"! Check recent posts to make sure someone else hasn't beaten you to a game, especially if it's a newer release.

Working on Axiom Verge

I've been working on Mario... Kart...

Planning on playing some Binding of Isaac tomorrow; what would you guys say should be the requirement(s) for "beating" it?

Well... that's difficult. You can get the basic ending by beating Mom which is technically beating it... The next way to beat the game can only be done on a second playthrough of the game. Depends if you want to mandate Ghosts N Goblins rules. Or we could get real shitty and require 100% completion.   I'd be fine with either Mom or Mom + Heart. Though, I've never managed the latter. Shit is tough.

Also makes me question the requirements for Super Meat Boy and The End Is Nigh. If all you have to do is get basic endings on either, I could probably knock both out quickly (once SMB comes out).

I'm thinking "get an ending" is probably sufficient as a general rule. So I suppose beating Mom should be fine.

You forgot Rocket League. Although a cart version is coming out later this month. Since it came out in November, should you count beating a full season as beating the game?

I'm only counting physical releases, so Rocket League currently doesn't count at all.

I'd count a full season as beating the game, I think, yeah.

That said, any weird cases like this where there is a digital release well ahead of the physical one, as long as we KNOW a physical release is coming, if you beat it on digital ahead of the physical release feel free to post and let me know, and I'll toss it on the list.

Axiom Verge is done.  I have a screencap I'll figure out how to get sent to an email or something, otherwise I'll just take a pic of it...



The clear time is a mis-nomer since I had to leave the thing paused so many times.  I probably beat it in 10-12 hours if I had to guess

I could never beat the final boss when I played Axiom Verge initially. And I got distracted by the influx of massive games on Switch and never finished it there, either.  

Cave Story+ = finished!

Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+ = Finished! (Mom’s Heart beaten!)

I used the data bomb and smoked him on the second attempt

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers = finished!

Think I'm gonna use this thread as an opportunity to play Mario Odyssey and BotW again this year 👏🏻

Yeah pardon my language but frick the screencap function. If there was a way to easily retrieve the screencaps for convenient posting here (ie: if there was a browser on the Switch we could use to come to NA and post the screencaps, or if you could export the screencaps to your computer or phone), I'd use that function. Instead it's a matter of posting to social media or somewhere else, then going and retrieving the screencaps from there, saving them to your phone/computer and deleting them from your social network, then posting them here. It's much quicker and easier (especially for those of us using the NA mobile site) to just snap a pic of the screen on your phone and post it.

If it helps at all, I WILL accept either a screencap OR a photo of the screen.

TBH I just don't like seeing a thread filled with just "Game x is done" over and over. It feels like less of a fun community effort to me, and more like a list of groceries. I want to SEE and appreciate each game as it's beaten.

As I say though, if that's just me and you guys want me to scrap the "requirement" (which I am relatively loose on already), I'd be fine with it. I put it in place to see how it goes, and am very flexible.

No, it's fine i think. We're talking about like 60 total titles. Whereas in the SNES threads I completed 300+ games. Not only do I not feel enthused about getting a pic for my 4th clear of GunForce, but I had a streamlined process of getting it up with my iPhone, which is now gone, and instead have an Android where I'd have to spend 10 minutes getting a pic up.  It gets old after awhile.  But if I complete just 3 Switch games it's much less of a headache in comparison.

That being said I still try to get a pic for every green (never beaten before) SNES game, which I think is akin to this thread's inaugural effort

I think that's what I did last year for the SNES thread... just take pics of the never beaten games. It's not so bad in this thread because you can just screenshot the Switch quickly and then take the picture with your phone.
