Just completed my Metroid collection today!  Here are the pics:

My Metroid II really needs a box and manual, huh?  I also included four of my bonus items in the above pic just to have it all in one shot.  The bonus items are my CIB yellow Metroid, a 5-screw Metroid cart, and the Fusion and Prime strategy guides.  I didn't think the perler art Metroid would count as the fifth, so here's my other bonus item, which I LOVE:

I got this counter standee from GameStop when they closed the store I worked at - my manager let me have it.

Hmmm........I noticed a whole slew of new icons in the list this morning. New icons for series collections - I'm totally going for the Dragon Quest one, and depending on the required games for the Silent Hill one, I'm pretty sure I have it covered. Hope the lists come out soon.

How is the Earthbound one being considered, I wonder? Are you counting repros or non-NA releases for it?

Repros shouldn't be allowed in this kind of thing. If they are, then burning your own pirated copies of all the disc-based games should also be allowed.

Possibly a CIB Earthbound award? A tribute Earthbound "Zero" cart wouldn't really qualify under the rules set for the other sets, since it's pretty much home made, and not an official release.

My only question...will the Dragon Quest Monsters titles be on the list for the Dragon Quest series? If so, I've 4 titles remaining. If not, I've a complete set.

This is fun, just when I hit the "wall" for my NES, it gives me something else to do..

I'm close to a few of these.. and I like megaman, but forget that! I'm not a fan of the non-megaman, megaman..

Also, just remembered that there is a Mario Bros. game on Atari and that should definitely be in the Mario requirement.

Yup, Atari 2600, 5200, 7800 and XL/XE systems all had Mario titles, but it's the same game with an obvious graphics upgrade so you would only need one from any system right?

New icons added. More are on the way, I just have to write up the lists. Added Mario Bros. for Atari, C64 under the systems area. I wasn't sure about the Earthbound icon at first, but it's okay. The icon is in the database and should be fun to see what extras people have for it.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 aren't required for the list? Those are stand alone compilation games that aren't just rehashes IMO.

I probably have a Lunar set and a Phantasy Star set as I'm a big fan of both franchises. Something to consider putting up there.

edit: I have two CIB Earthbounds, the GBA Micro Mother Edition CIB (JP), and CIB Mother GBA (JP).  Don't think I have anything additional to offer up.  Does this count?

^^ some of it counts. GBA Micro and GBA Mother count. Your Earthbound counts as the one main game. So you just need 3 other Earthbound related pieces for an icon.

Jonebone - I was thinking MK Trilogy was a compliation of the first three MK's and Ulitmate MK3 was just a slight upgrade of MK3. I'll take a look at those.

These are two unique items.  So wouldn't that be three?

Not trying to split hairs or anything.  This is fun stuff.

edit: Yeah, sorry, should have been more specific.  They are: GBA Micro Deluxe Set Mother 3 Edition (system and game) and CIB Mother 1 GBA.

Yeah some of these sets are going to be brutal to get extras for. What about sealed copies of games, would those count as extras? You guys have mentioned this as being "hard" and how it's supposed to measure your dedication. I don't think you can get much more dedicated than having sealed games of your favorites.

Also, I think Ninja Gaiden is probably deserving of a spot too...

^ There is a Ninja Gaiden award.
And personally I would count sealed as a variant for an extra. Up to NT tho.

Yep, I'm working on Ninja Gaiden. So for a sealed game are you saying it would count as an extra? As in I have a loose copy of SMB 3 for my set and I have a sealed copy as my extra? Or would it be like this, I have only a sealed copy of SMB 3 so that count towards my set and also one extra?

Is there?  I checked and didn't see it in the list?  Even double and triple checked to make sure my eyes didn't fail me.

And maybe the sealed stipulation should be for non-current generation games only.  Anyone can get a X360 / PS3 / DS game sealed for cheap once it hits the bargain bin.  In spirit of the difficulty here, maybe only consider stuff from previous generations.

Just a thought.  I can think of some Earthbound extras offhand but Contra is really going to be tough.  No strategy guides, no standees, maybe a poster here and there.  Difficult is good, but next to impossible is a bit overkill IMO.  Hard to argue that someone isn't a fan of a series if they own them all sealed, but lack extras.

Well if the person is a Mario fan, I'm 99.9% sure they got a cart only or CIB game that is "playable".  So that would be their copy for the set.

Then if they also have a Sealed copy (which is obviously not for play), that would count as one of their 5 extras.  As I mentioned above, maybe we should only count sealed games as extras from non-current generation platforms.  Having sealed NES games is more impressive than sealed DS games.
