To everyone. I know I have not posted a Super Mario Brothers 3 score yet and I am sorry. I know a few were looking forward to compete against me. I have been busy though getting ready for a new job and have not had much time to play. This job has played a lot on my mind. It's hard to just get up and leave a life you have known for so long for a new one. Everything is moving fast for me and I will try to post a score tomorrow. Just remember even if I don't post I was still playing against you all in spirt. Take care all

Alright, watched the video. As far as I'm concerned, it's leeching, which I think is crap. I can jerk off all day on world one, but to me that doesn't prove your prowess at the game.

But the point of this contest is to get people to play (which I haven't in years, so kudos sir!), but I don't really care. IMO it's a cheap form of cheating, though. I'm on World 5 with 600,000. That was from simply getting coins, breaking bricks, and killing goombas.

In other news, are you guys getting the pirate ships with the coins? I didn't go that far. I think it involves coins and time numbers, but I was having more fun seeing if I could just play through all the worlds. I was still able to grab more than one white mushroom house. Pretty happy about that.

Yeah man fair enough but I think the top scores you're gonna see for this one are the guys that can point-rack effectively where they can AND get far in the game. I think it's cool that you're playing the game straight though, hell one of the best scores posted so far seems to be a dude who just about one-lifed the game but didn't point-rack much.

@Ferris - I can understand you not liking to play like that, but I don't understand how on earth you find it to be cheating? You've got a short amount of time to get as many points as you can and then you can't play the level over. That's about as legit as you can get for a high score if you ask me.

My point of view was shaped by the one game that I love and actually tried my hand at once or twice to get the high score, and that would be Contra. TG had a no leeching rule, which meant I wasn't allowed to just sit in one area and kill enemies that kept running onscreen. Then I saw Chasing Ghosts last month and the dudes with the high score for that maze/robot game got beat by a guy that simple ran around in circles on four screens killing repeating enemies. It just feels akin to that.

And I'm a deviant, too. There's nothing I like more than finding a loophole. But in this case it's different for me. It doesn't feel as pure. I actually did something similar for a second when I first started playing, jumping from goomba to goomba on 1-2 as they came out of the tubes, but only did it twice because I didn't think it'd be fair. Also, I changed my original post and from "cheap form of cheating" to "cheap form of playing".

Again, no big deal. It's just us on here, and it's for fun. If it were for Guniess though...

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

I haven't played this game in so long, I just wanted to see if I could still beat it without dying since I've got no shot at getting the high score:

Keep practicing. I can get to world 8 w/o dying and last yea I had a very low score. Now that I know how to do some tricks I think a lot of people should be able to have about 2 to 3 million if not more if they make it to World 8. Best of luck

A for Effort Participation Score!

CIB mourns the death of 72 Pin connector

What amused me most is that I scored higher than the kids in "The Wizard", having never even seen World 2. Jimmy's score was 81520 if anyone is curious.

Edit: Updated score

The game was Berserk IIRC, and I felt the same way about it when I saw that documentary. The high-score war becomes all about racing to the place in the stage where you can score the most and then zipping to the end, which takes a lot of the experience away, especially when you don't know the game very well. But, it is what it is. Point-racking isn't always allowed in these contests, either. At any rate, I'm glad you're having some fun so far

You all did great. I had some scores but no user name in the pic. When I find my camera I will post something neat with my experience with Super Mario 3

Ok Like I promised a adventure through Super Mario 3 with Megamamfan. I know I have no way of proving it is my score but my final was 643,570. I did this my first day playing. Thanks to help from others I was able to get a higher score but I was too focused on beating 1 million then taking more pics.

Ok we start off as I just beat level for on world 1 with a score of 152,960

I then Investigate this cool Mushroom house that appeared

Then I get to explore this cool Treasure ship with a score of 235,120

After that we moved onto world 2 with a score of 289,220 and again another mushroom house oh and a N card Bringing my score up to 355,420 after the world 2 castle

Onto world 3 where I ended with a score of 643,570

Thanks all and I hope you enjoy this little slide show I made. Hope it don't clog up the forum to much but it meant a lot to me to make this.

Many turtle shells were harmed in the making of this score.

Died stupidly in a hole while running through world 3-4.  I keep dying from dumb mistakes as I hurry between the places where I do the racoon jumps.  Oh well.

Impressive! More impressive than my score considering I tried to point press every chance I could and you (and gnarlblast) just played through and didn't.

Great job, Tom! I actually just stumbled on your point-press YouTube video as I was trying to figure out how the heck you guys get such high scores! It is impressive, for sure.

I know the feeling. Can't remember how many times I had a really good run going only to die from some stupid mistake. Oh well. I'll take the score I got.

Well I didn't realize that this was not over until tomorrow. So here is my score. I beat my personal best and I got a coin ship on level 6 woo hoo. To bad the hammer brother took me out. Also got stuck on the hammer brother so had to take a pic of the hammer brother board.

1,525,340
