took advantage of a target sale this morning.

buy a dollar preorder card, get 15 off a game 39.99 or above.

just my luck, they had Kid Icarus: Uprising. bought it, registered it on club nintendo, and am now off to play it.

I hear the game wrecks your wrists...welp, better suck it up.

okay, one other thing.

went to a garage sale that sprang up all of a sudden.
found Mario kart: double dash (no manual, some scratches, but it works) and jak and daxter: precursor legacy (poster, no manual, scratches, but works) for a total of 5 bucks.

also, kid Icarus is killing my hands already...just got to toughen up and keep at it.

recently posted a want ad on craigslist. someone replied with a list of games. what caught my eye really was smash bros melee and Mario party 7. offered $10 for those two, they agreed. show up to collect, lady tells me "we're going to move soon and need to get rid of this stuff, could you take the whole lot for $20?" ...I just had to:

not pictured: a black, original gcn controller and a green/emerald/teal/whatever color PSone controller. also, gta doesn't work right.

while the lady is gathering everything for me, her kid, David (I assume that's his name, it's written on some of the discs and cases), is just sitting there, glaring because he's upset everything's going out the door because apparently "you cant take it with you on a train to phoenix when we can only take 4 suitcases" or something like that...

TL;DR...I "robbed" some kid named David for only $20.

for once, I went to the local liquidators warehouse. I figured it'd have the same content as the local thrift shops and goodwills (i.e. nothing), but I hit pay dirt:

marvel ultimate alliance also has forza motorsport 2, metal combat's missing the manual, and Namco's CIB.
All of that for $4.33. 50 cents a piece plus tax. so that's cool.

today, I lucked out at half price books. found a gamecube Gameboy player (no disc) for 9.99, which in turn became 6.48 total after using a 40% off coupon. goes nicely with the startup disc I bought weeks back. so that's cool.

this week was pretty fruitful for once.
at a pawn shop I found Mario kart wii (CIB) for 7 bucks.
at a yard sale I found frogger (GBC) and harvest moon ds (in a hanna montana game case for some reason) for $4 total.
final yard sales I came across Mario galaxy (CIB) and de Blob (wii, CIB), $6 total.

so the week worked out nicely.

so, this morning I went digging in my closet because I've been looking for the manual for pokemon red. it's in there somewhere, I saw it once months ago, so its got to be there still. anyways, while hunting for that, I found this old thing:

got that, along with mew on my copy of pokemon red, during the pokemon mall tour in 2000.

also found a beat up copy of super Mario land 2 (player's choice) , which I find really weird because I don't know where that came from...I mean, I have my copy, a non-players choice, not beat up or anything, along with my other games, so I have no idea who's cart it is...weird.

common game to post about, I know, but it felt kind of weird to the touch for some reason, like it was a little heavier than other games...also, the pins look a little different than normal pins...wonder what's that about...

(you can see where this is going, can't you?)

hot tramp, I love you so!

so, yeah, that happened. also got some comics off ebay, but pinball was the cooler thing to talk about

As a newbie, no, I don't know where that went.  Can you describe what the picture is showing as compared to normal?  Is this way more valuable or something?

this describes it better than i can:

http://famicomworld.com/workshop/...

in short, i paid 7 for something that can go for 30 just because it has the converter.

went out to check the local stores, scouting stuff for black Friday sales, and picked this stuff up:

never owned tmnt II, hardly ever see a copy around here, much less at a price lower than $30...so that was cool.

Thanksgiving night, went to Black Friday sales. bought some blu-rays: Godzilla (2014), Lone Survivor, Dredd, and The Wolverine. $27 and some change.

This morning, my actual Black Friday haul was:

First store opened at 6am, $21.54 got me Contra 4, Destination Earthstar, an Official N64 Controller, and NES controller. games were buy one get one and so were the controllers, so Earthstar and the NES controller were free.

HPB opened 7am, $9.06 got me Metroid. got a $5 gift card walking in (some lady 5 people behind me in line was the lucky recipient of the $100 one...), so used the card and some cash for the game. it was really the only thing there that 1)interested me and 2)was affordable on a budget.

Last store opened at 8am, got Thor for roughly $9. used store credit.

everything works, but the n64 controller definitely needs a new analog stick as evidenced by the powder grinded from the stick, the less than stellar tension in it, and that I bothered to test it with a game and it's in need of a new one.

so...yeah, that was cool.

so...

I jumped on a craigslist posting almost immediately when it popped up. I agree to meet him at a gas station in one hell of a sketch neighborhood (i'm sure its nice during the day, but this was 9 at night, in an area with nothing but trees and mobile homes, and i'm unfamiliar with the neighborhood, so yeah...).

in any case, for $25 I got this:

system's missing the a/v cables, but it works fine. has original jumper pak inside.

Mario kart alone could net me back what I spent but I'll keep it for now.

keeping the controllers for sure, especially since they still have great tension in the sticks and I've never had any colors other than standard grey and the green one I bought recently. the picture's not clear, but they're official Nintendo controllers.

nba had writing on it, but it was in magic marker and came off in 2 seconds. also had a sticker, but it was not on the label, so it came off easy with goo-gone.

so that was cool.

found this today:

garage sale. guy had a snes lot and a gamecube, asking $70 for all together. I offered $10 alone on the game. he was reluctant to do so, and I was about to leave, but he changed his mind and I got the game. the rest of the lot were decent games (dkc, spiderman maximum carnage, Mario world, nba jam), but I was interested in all-stars alone. so that was good.

got this today:

after looking and finding marth the other day, I didn't realize trainer was also another hard to find figure, which I found weird because I passed up several before stumbling upon marth. this morning I hit up the store I knew had several trainers before only to find just this remaining one. I got dumb luck with these I guess.

box is in good condition, no bends or open parts like my marth figure's box, but the figure itself has some, like, leftover paint or resin or glue or whatever in a couple of spots. it's not a deal breaker, just one of those OCD things that will bug you if you eyeball it up close a whole lot. still looks good overall.

almost gave up this weekend. yesterday, hit up the gamestops in town looking for a little mac amiibo, but apparently they all didn't get their shipments yet or something, so settled on getting samus. cost a little over $3 after using a $10 off coupon.

this morning, after searching several yard sales, found this:

really happy to find this copy of star wars, since it includes the non-special edition version of the film. better than having to wear out my old 1980's vhs copy.

chrono cross is disc 2 only, no manual. disc is in excellent shape, but it was covered in one of those rental stickers that was a pain to slowly peel off. case also had stickers/residue on it, but goo gone took care of that. nice to have the black label version to go with my green label copy.

really surprised to find rhapsody. game disc and soundtrack disc only, missing manual. discs need some resurfacing. case was also plastered with stickers, but again, goo gone.

total price for the lot ran me $5.

went on craigslist this morning, saw a posting, reply, arrange a meetup, and for $15, found this:

both came with no charger, but since I already one, that's not too much of a problem.

did not know Pikachu was a 101 model, happy about finally having one. dirty as hell and has a bit of an house air freshener smell, but cleaned up nice, save for the fading Pikachu face.

the platinum one...no clue if it works, the connections for both the power and headphone jack are jank, just busted. i'll swap out the battery and see if it powers on and lights up, because if at least the screen works and lights, I can possibly transplant it to another non-lighting gba sp I already have.

so, yeah, that was decent.

haven't posted in a while, so...

a week and a half ago, went looking for amiibos again, particularly pit and little mac. while no luck, did pick up diddy kong for $8 thanks to a coupon I cashed in.

last weekend, picked up a CIB copy of ghost squad on the wii for $5 store credit. also used another coupon to get a samus amiibo for a little over $3. opened it up for use with smash bros seeing as I already had a sealed one.

today, snagged gradius (nes, wanted it) and jammit (snes, bought solely because I've never seen it and the title amused me) for $7.50 total.

so...

this morning, went to a garage sale at 7. they had a OG Gameboy with Mario Land and Teris together for $10. nice, but the screen had too many dead columns, and I did not want to spend extra to get a soldering iron to fix it, so sadly passed on that.

7:30, sale, nothing. 7:45, sale, found a DS case, but no games or system in sight, so I left.

8:00, sale, ps2 bundle, several games and a ps2 slim, only saw metal gear solid 3 and a guncon, thought the bundle would be promising based only on that, but they wanted $45 and ps2 stuff is always a hell of a gamble in my experience, so I didn't bother thumbing through the rest.

8:15, two more sales, nothing, and a OG ps2 and controller for $15. passed.

8:30, hit up Walmart to check amiibos really just to pass time given Walmart's in-store supply is laughable.

8:45, checked two more sales. nothing.

9:00, hit up hastings for amiibos because why not? nothing interesting to me, so moved on.

9:20, last sale. so...this happened:

$40 for the whole lot. only had $20 on hand because i'm cheap, but they actually held it for me and I bought a cola and cash back at a store down the street.

everything works, Zelda's missing manual and needs some resurfacing, swapped out the manual from Smash to complete my better condition copy, the spongebob game is still sealed, the disc only game is Lego Star Wars II, both controllers are missing the rubber on the sticks and the wavebird's missing its battery cover.

so...yeah, that was cool.
