Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  As the summer tournament draws to a close, the next group of contests are ready to start with a brand new leaderboard!  Everyone will be off to a fresh start this week with one of my all-time favorite games, Double Dragon 2.  Here are the rules:

  • 1 player only
  • Choose Supreme Master mode.
  • Do not allow yourself to get a Game Over or your score will not count. You can either pause the game before losing your last life or immediately after losing your last life to take your picture, since you got a few seconds to pause before getting the Game Over.
  • Get as far in the game as possible
  • Lowest score takes precedence in the event of a tie (ex. Two players get to Level 3.  Whoever has the lowest score at that point in the game takes precedence)
  • If you beat the game, pause as soon as you defeat the Shadow Boss to get your score
  • Furthest progression wins with lowest score taking priority
  • GENRE: Beat ‘Em Up

The contest ends Sunday, 8/2/15 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

Proud owner of post #2000, #2900, and #3800 in Inner Circle HQ thread

I don't think my skill set is suited for a low score contest.

I wonder if Arnpoly and Claybird will have time to play this week...I know they've been really busy knitting each other skirts to wear.

I'm gonna say yes. It's the only setting that allows you to fight the shadow boss and complete the game.

Hey I'm proud of my talent!

I'm going to try and submit a score this week but I don't have very much time to commit to the contests right now.  I'm sure I can beat the game but not with a low score.

Can we get an answer to this? I don't know what the difference in modes are, but this should be clarified.

I know I'm not a moderator here, but yes play on Supreme Master difficulty unless told otherwise.  It is the only setting that let's you play the entire game.

Low-score is definitely a rethink on the best procedure with the best survivability.

It also means your wonderful chart from the last Winter Tournament isn't nearly as helpful.

Yup.  Though low-score really means you don't need it, since it just comes down to understanding how to minimize scores in-general (presumably head-throws off of cliffs, whenever possible).

With the high scoring, it was about understanding the pace and which bad-guys you could get the same amount of points no matter which power moves you used (for safety -- i.e. which places is an uppercut good enough?)

Are u gonna play this week Arch? As of now you're the missing link for a tier 1 rematch. We got a bad ass crew right about now. We sure could use our Donatello!
