Going forward the competition will have two games running at a time.  They are separate leaderboards, with their own points awarded.  You can compete in one or the other, or both.

June Game #1: UN Squadron
Rules

• Goal -> High Score
• Start a new game on the default settings, with the pilot of your choice
• Play until you are on your final life (Helmet=0) on your first continue
• Pause immediately upon starting your final life and take a pic.  Do not play to Game Over.
• Indefinite point pressing on bosses is prohibited.  You know if you're doing it, so don't do it.  These things are for fun.

June Game #2: Tecmo Super Bowl
Rules

• Goal -> Win margin, tiebreaker is points scored
• Keep the default settings
• Start a new game Preason -> MAN vs COM, weather of your choice
• Rough idea of team strength
• Play until Game Over
• Take a screenshot of the final score

I've never played Tecmo Super Bowl in my life either.

Amending the rule for UN Squadron: play until your last life, then take your pic. No-one wants to sit and pause every few seconds on their last life taking pics. Now I understand why the NES crew does it that way

I think we should do a set matchup. Makes the margin of victory mean more and will have consistency. Or you could do 2 different matchups we could choose to add a small bit of diversity

Never played Tecmo Super Bowl and not very good at UN Squadron. I just ordered a copy of Tecmo Super Bowl the other day, so I guess I will be working on UN Squadron until then.

I'never played any of these two games, but give them a try. Especially Tecmo Super Bowl will be a challenge. Like most people here in Europe, I don't know anything about the rules of American Football, so this is going to be interesting.  

Luckily for you Tecmo Super Bowl is a football game made by people who don't know anything about football, loved by people who don't know anything about football

I played around a bit with UN Squad last night as well, just not great at it, maybe by month end I can post up a decent score.  Love Tecmo Super Bowl, this is one of my favorites.  Played it a ton with my Uncle as a kid.

499,300. Managed to get the Efreet but messed up on the third to last stage. Done for tonight but will put up a better score this weekend.

I like the A-10, very helpful for the Water Level, and I know I used it to beat the Forest Fortress.  I just don't recall exactly how

And the plane below that might be necessary for one of the next set of levels that has a ceiling boss

Upped my tecmo score margin to 25 (35-10)Will be tinkering with different matchups the rest of the month.


I played some un squadron. Just kept playing not trying to get a pic till i learn the game more. Beat the first level. I suck at this game. Well i guess many would if they havent really played much of it before. 

I like the A-10 as well but find that you can beat everything leading up to the second to last stage (top right set of triangles - need upward shooting weapons) with the F-20 (second plane). It has air and ground weapons. Once you have it leveled up it can tear through the fortress and battleship (shoot head on to the turrets and guns while at far left side of screen). When you have to make a pass drop ground weapons. I find that the Phoenix missles for the F-20 really come in handy on most stages as well as they can keep you from getting hit. Use the F-20 on each stage until you reach the last two stages and then destroy trucks until you have the cash to buy the Efreet (and weapons for it). You can wait until the second to last stage (top right set of triangles) if needed before upgrading your plane, and you can use the YF-23 to beat that stage (need a plane with upward shooting weapons), but I find the YF-23 isn't worth buying since the Efreet can equip all weapons and you need some serious firepower for the last stage. The game is challenging but it actually has hidden power ups in well placed spots so if you know where they're at the stages are easier. I also find Greg to be the best pilot. Seems like he can either take more damage or recovers faster.

Feel the same way about UN, guess Tecmo will be my stronger game this month. 
 

Side-note; if anyone feels like sim'ing their way to the Super Bowl and winning it, I'll give you credit for the clear in my "Can NA Beat every SNES Game" thread. I took the Giants all the way to the Super Bowl, but could never win it. The computer becomes one cheating bastard the further you get.

I'm a huge fan of UN Squadron, so I'm hoping to put up a competing score for that. Playing it on my work computer with a keyboard is a PITA though. Can't wait to get home and use an actual controller, lol.

So on un squadron we get all our continues right?
